Electric scooter rental in Moscow 2022: what service to choose, what is more profitable

Four years have passed since the first electric scooter rental service opened in Moscow. And if at that time the fleet numbered only 700 devices, now there are thousands of them, and possibly more. The popularity of scooters with a motor is not a phenomenon. They’re easy to rent, simple to operate, and most importantly, you can save time on your home-to-metro-to-work commute.

We dived into the topic of renting and tried to figure out which service offers the best conditions, and which can offer something unusual.

What the cost of renting an electric scooter depends on

Today, renting scooters is available in most cities in Russia. There are about 30 services in the country that offer kicksharing, and the total park has about 75 thousand units of equipment. Tariffs, of course, differ slightly depending on the region. The average price tag can float from two to six rubles per minute and from 15 to 50 rubles one-time for the start of a trip. You can choose any tariff: per minute, hourly, daily and monthly.

Sometimes renting equipment for a month can be cheaper than its daily rental for the same period.

It is worth noting that renting an electric scooter can be compared to calling a cab. The fact is that the rates may vary depending on the technical characteristics of the devices, the time spent on the trip, and the demand among the population (on holidays and days of good weather, the demand for scooters increases dramatically, and hence the price).

YouDrive Lite

Park: Segway Ninebot ES1 electric scooters, capable of reaching a speed of 25 km/h on a flat road. Each device is also equipped with a flashlight for traveling in the evening or at night. Now the service works in Moscow and Sochi, and about 2.5 thousand scooters are available for rent.

Distance: the maximum battery charge is enough for 50 km of road – about 3.5 hours on the road.

Extras:

users can take out insurance for each ride right in the app;
places for proper parking can be found on the map in the app;
up to four scooters can be rented from one account.

Tariffs: the service has only one tariff: five rubles per minute or 300 rubles per hour.

Whoosh

Park: especially for the service, the Ninebot factory makes scooters in a business-class configuration. The equipment has a restrictive speed limit of 25 km/h. Woosh works in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Ufa, Kazan, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and 10 more cities.

Distance: a full battery charge is enough for 55 kilometers, which is about four hours on the road.

Extras:

each scooter is equipped with a double shock absorber over the front wheel, which makes the ride as comfortable as possible;
you can lock the scooter via the app to leave it for business;
a signal from your phone to the scooter in the access area helps you quickly find a parked device;
the scooters have wireless charging for your smartphone.

Tariffs:

per minute – start 50 rubles, further a minute seven rubles, there is a refundable deposit of 500 rubles;
weekly – 199 rubles (seven days of operation, 300 rubles deposit, free trip start, payment only for minutes, and insurance can be turned on or off by default);
monthly – 499 rubles (30 days of work, no deposit, free trip start, payment only for minutes, and insurance can be turned on or off by default).

“Carousel”.

Park: the network does not specify the model of the scooters, but it is reported that they were made by special order in China. In Moscow, the rental operation zone is limited to the TTK and a few other districts. The service also operates in Samara, Kaliningrad and Kostroma.

Distance: on one charge you can drive 30-40 km – 3-4 hours of rental.

Extras:

there are no buttons on the scooter, as it is controlled through the Carousel app;
the scooters have a mechanical hand brake;
the equipment should be left strapped to the bicycle parking lots;
the scooter must be photographed before renting and after completion.

Tariffs:

50 rubles start + seven rubles per minute, waiting – two rubles per minute;

one hour – 350-375 rubles;
two hours – 550-690 rubles
three hours – 800-990 rubles;
extension – 5-6 rubles per minute.

Urent

Park: the pool of equipment of this rental service is impressive – 60 thousand scooters are available in 87 cities of Russia. There are several models: Cityrider, Okai ES200, Ninebot Max, Ninebot Max Pro. The maximum speed of all of them is limited around 25 km/h.

Distance: depending on the model of the scooter you can travel between 25 and 60 km – 2-5 hours.

Extras:

up to five electric scooters can be rented from one account;
if you leave the scooter after the trip in a special green zone, you will get bonuses. 1 bonus = 1 ruble. You can use the accumulated bonuses to pay for the following trips;
if you book an electric scooter in advance, you will have 10 free minutes to start the ride.

Tariffs: standard tariff – 50 rubles for activation of the scooter and five rubles per minute during the ride.

E-motion

Park: the service operates in Moscow, Kursk, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Vladivostok, Irkutsk and 15 more cities. Automatic stations for renting electric scooters and work zones are located in the central districts of the cities. According to MosTransport, there are about 200 units in Moscow. Available models: Ninebot ES1, Ninebot Kickscooter Max G30 and Ninebot Kickscooter Max PRO.

Distance: on one charge you can travel from 30 to 60 km – 2-4 hours.

Extras:

up to six scooters can be rented from one account;
during the rental you can press the “Pause” button in the “Orders” section, the scooter will be blocked and preferential charging will start.

Tariffs: the cost of activation of scooters in Moscow – 40-50 rubles, a minute of rental on average 5-7 rubles.

YandexGo

Park: powerful electric scooters Ninebot Max Plus 2022 with mounts and wireless charging for smartphones (in half an hour will charge about 40%). The number of Yandex scooters has increased – now there are over 12 thousand of them. And the riding area includes the Moscow Ring Road, Lyubertsy and Krasnogorsk.

Distance: 90 km of travel on a single battery charge, which is equivalent to five hours of travel.

Extras:

voice assistant Alice is embedded in the rental app and will alert you to low charge, and also help you find and unlock the scooter;
illuminated handlebars show its current status. White color – free and charged units, yellow – booked.

Rates:

“Fix” tariff is suitable for trips along the “favorite” route (the service builds an optimal route on maps, which will pass on bicycle lanes and sidewalks, avoiding stairs);
up to three devices can be booked from one account (inside the app you need to click on the “Take another scooter” button or scan the QR code on the handlebars);
owners of the “Plus” subscription have access to a subscription that gives a free start at any tariff, as well as 15 minutes of free waiting time. The first month is free, and 399 rubles for the second will be returned in points to “Plus”.

Rushering

Park: in 2021, the service purchased new Ninebot Max Pro electric scooters, which are still available for rent. The number of units is not specified. The service operates in Moscow, Veliky Novgorod, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and other cities.

Distance: the range of a trip on a fully charged battery of about 60 km – four hours.

Extras:

there is a loyalty program, including a welcome bonus, promo codes and cashback;
the service has switched to a round-the-clock mode of operation;
scooters are equipped with a locking system;
standby and multi-rent modes are available in the app.

Tariffs:

199 rubles for 30 minutes;
349 rubles per hour.

Rental costs may vary in different regions. If you exceed the paid period, the per-minute calculation will be activated at a price of seven rubles per minute.
