Acts of athletes that moved us

How often do we hear that professional athletes are millionaires who think only of themselves? That they don’t care about anyone, including their fans, even though they are ready to support them anywhere in the world? Such feelings are not uncommon in today’s world. But in such moments it is important to remember that athletes are human beings, and nothing human is alien to them. We have collected the deeds of sports stars that will restore your faith in people.

Novak Djokovic is the best friend of the Bolboys

In May this year, another tennis player – Novak Djokovic – got into a similar story. During an ATP World Series match in Rome, he unsuccessfully hit an opponent’s shot. The ball flew out of the court and hit the head of the bolboy. Before continuing the game, the Serb approached the young man, apologized and asked about his well-being.

Fans also remember another incident: in 2014, a first-round match at Roland Garros was interrupted due to rain. A bolboy came up to the Serbian from behind and raised an umbrella over him, noticing the guy, the athlete offered him to sit next to him and took the umbrella in his hand. Throughout the break they chatted casually, drank water and then returned to their duties. The audience greeted everything that was going on with applause.

Jack Seok and a happy towel

In the summer of 2017, after winning the first round of Wimbildon, Jack Sock handed out souvenirs to fans. People sitting in the stands received rackets, balls as souvenirs. One boy was supposed to receive a towel, but it was taken away by a man standing next to him. Later, the tennis player learned about the incident from social networks. In his tweet, he asked for help in finding the boy to give him another one. Also the official accounts of the US Open, Australian Open and Roland Garros promised towels. The story has a happy ending – the boy himself wrote to the athlete and was not left without a gift.

Neymar and the son of the regiment

Now it’s hard to believe it, but there were times when not all news related to Neymar concerned his transition somewhere. For example, in the spring of 2014, a video went around the world in which a boy ran onto the field during a friendly match between Brazil and South Africa. He was caught by the stewards, but Neymar, who in that meeting distinguished himself three times, himself came up and took the young fan in his arms. The striker took a picture with him, then the rest of the team joined them and they celebrated the victory together.

Charlie Coyle and a child’s happiness

Hockey is a very fast sport where players can’t lose concentration even for a minute. But despite this, athletes find time for their fans. For example, forward Charlie Coyle, while playing for Minnesota, simply waved to a boy who was tapping on the defensive glass. The kid’s reaction is impossible to describe in words, you have to see it with your own eyes.

David Beckham – back to school

The appearance of athletes at school is a surprise to few people, but, as a rule, such events are planned in advance. Teachers and school administrators know when the athlete will appear and what will be included in the program of the day. But not so long ago David Beckham unexpectedly appeared in the classroom of a London school. No one knew about the upcoming visit of the ex-football player of the national team, so he appeared right in the middle of the lesson. Naturally, any continuation of studies was out of the question. At the same time, no one had a feeling that the teachers were against it. As it turned out, Beckham is an ambassador of the organization promoting British designers in the world, and his appearance is connected with this project. The main purpose of the visit was to announce the launch of a new educational program for children interested in fashion.

Iker Casillas Support Group

Athletes may pay attention to their fans in different ways, but it is equally important that fans are willing to show their support in return. A prime example is the recent story involving ex-Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. Goalkeeper suffered a heart attack in training, he was taken to the hospital and successfully performed surgery. A few days later, when his life was no longer threatened, fans and teammates held an action in support of the Spaniard. Banners with wishes for a speedy recovery appeared on the pitch and in the stands.
