Just half an hour of work on the plot can burn 300 kcal. Studies show that gardeners and cottage gardeners have a significantly lower BMI (body mass index) than others. Working in the garden engages almost all muscle groups and gives a good physical load. Digging up the soil – consider it a cardio workout, sawing wood – toned arm muscles, weeding a bed – strengthened the broadest muscles of the back.

Historically, animals helped people with difficult physical work on land plots. At first we used to harness cattle for plowing the land, and later the machinery in the form of tractors and harvesters came into use. On the one hand, all this made our life much easier, on the other hand, there is still a lot of other dacha work that has to be done manually. But this has its advantages.

Such activities may well be classified as a sport – the energy expenditure in such work is not a joke. For comparison, when running at an average pace and a pulse of 140 beats per minute, you can spend 600 kcal/hour.

Digging up the soil burns about the same number of calories. Gardening is a kind of “agro-fitness”, with the help of which you can not only strengthen the muscles of the whole body, but also achieve a slim figure.

See for yourself.

During dacha work the main thing is dosage and gradualness. Do not forget to take a break every half an hour. Alternate the type of load, change the position of the body and make a timely rest.

In order not to overwork, do not forget about a few rules:

  • Wear a hat and closed clothing;
  • use sunscreen;
  • drink water more often – it is especially important in summer.
