Fitness after the epidemic: what it will be like

When the pandemic eventually ends, I hope our world will start to return to what we used to consider normal. For example, dolphins will disappear from the canals of Venice again. I would like to believe that the dollar exchange rate will return to the “before” mark, but I won’t guess.

What changes await us?

In fact, the world will irreversibly change. It will never be the same again. What consequences this promises for different spheres of life, I will not predict, imagination and horizons are not enough. But I will share a couple of thoughts about fitness.

In the era “before” the vast majority of really competent and knowledgeable fitness trainers in “Instagram” and other social networks if and flashed, then very intermittently and for a tick. Marathons and trainings “on the heel of the point” did not record. Because there were a lot of clients, 12-14 hours of work, no time to eat and “swing” themselves. They were in high demand and dreamed of at least one full-fledged day off a week. And today these specialists find themselves in a situation where they have to master the methods of remote training – via Skype, Zoom and so on. They already have a certain base of former offline clients. And there will surely be new online ones. So, the quantity and quality of online fitness will change a lot. And there will be a real alternative to the girls who assure that with these graceful pauses of a leg, to which a bright fitness ribbon is tied, you can solve absolutely all problems with your figure.

What to expect from distance sports?

Holders of passes to fitness clubs must have noticed that many such establishments quickly oriented themselves and transferred group classes to their social networks. Now you don’t have to (and you can’t) go anywhere to go to yoga, zumba or pilates. Everyone works out at home in front of a computer/tablet, the instructor – in front of a camera with a microphone. And you don’t have to worry about not having someone to leave your child with for that time. Let’s imagine that even after the quarantine is over, club managers will think about selling “virtual” club cards. And quality fitness will be more accessible to even more people.

Is there any sense in online training?

And is it worth it for fitness clubs to bother so much and look for new formats when the pandemic subsides? Maybe they should. Because having found themselves in forced isolation a certain percentage of those who can’t think of life without annually renewed membership will come to the conclusion that you can do just as well at home.

I personally have always treated training at home with great skepticism. However, having found myself in conditions where gyms have locks, I was forced to look at it from a new angle. And after three weeks, this “angle” does not look so hopeless. Provided, of course, an adequate approach to the issue. Because to give the muscles a sufficient load, pushing up from the sofa, you can either during the period of rehabilitation after a long illness in a lying position, or from quite “minus” positions in terms of physical conditions.

Next, you need to be concerned about the appropriate equipment. But it turns out that even here you can do with “little blood”. For example, I, having a decade and a half of training experience and some results, can very effectively “pump” all muscle groups, having at hand only a tourniquet and collapsible weights with a step of 16-24-32 kg.

… Although, of course, I want all this crowning disaster to end soon. And dolphins in Venice remained.
