Impact training: how the strongest anime character got his power

The anime “Wanpanchman” was released in 2015. It tells about the superhero Saitama – a completely ordinary man without any special powers. However, at the same time, according to the story, he is the most powerful hero in the universe, who with just one blow can defeat anyone. How did he do it, and can an ordinary person succeed by following Saitama’s training plan?

How did Saitama get his power?

Saitama used to be an office worker. His life didn’t have much to offer. But since childhood, he dreamed of helping people – not for gratitude or fame, but out of kindness. One day he decided to radically change his life and developed a plan of daily training: 100 push-ups, 100 exercises on the press, 100 squats and a 10-kilometer run. At the same time it is necessary to eat strictly three times a day. But the most important thing, Saitama said, is to “strengthen the mind.”

“It’s hard at first, you start to think that one missed day won’t make you feel better. To get strong, I did everything every day, no matter how hard it was. I squatted even when the heaviness in my legs was unbearable. I did push-ups even when my arms were crunching! But I kept going!” – this is how the hero himself talked about how he managed to achieve incredible strength. His training lasted three years. However, such extreme exertion came at a price – Saitama went bald.

Train for 100 days like Wanpanchmen.

Since the release of the anime found a lot of people who decided to repeat the training of the main character. It’s turned into a challenge: people challenge themselves and then share the results online. But almost no one managed to replicate Saitama’s stunning success, because for safety reasons, bloggers started with fewer exercises.

Youtuber Next Level lasted a full 100 days. His initial goal was simply to lose weight, but the results far exceeded his expectations. During the challenge he followed a special diet, excluding sugar, carbohydrates and fried foods from his diet. From the 60th day, the blogger began to complicate the exercises by adding weights and a gym band. He said he will continue to follow the workout plan, reducing the number to five per week.

Mayne Yusuf, another blogger, got injured while running but didn’t stop. He decided to continue until the last because he was sure that the result was worth it. On day 30, Mayne could already do 100 push-ups without much effort.

“This challenge toughens you up not so much physically, but mentally. Comparing myself to who I was before I started training, I realize that I have changed a lot. Now I feel like I can achieve anything I want to achieve,” Yusuf notes.

Tyler Olivia felt that training every day was too much for his body, so he set aside two days a week for rest and significantly reduced his running distance. After completing the 100-day workout, the blogger still regretted making the change in routine.

“I respect myself for being able to stick to it every day. However, now I think I would have overpowered the workout to the fullest,” he told subscribers.

What reduces the effectiveness of the workout?

Many bloggers noted several minuses that significantly reduce the effectiveness of such a workout.

There are no exercises for the muscles of the back, forearms and shoulder girdle. Trapezius and broadest muscles are needed to build an evenly trained body. If you exclude the load on these groups, you can upset the balance and earn a problem with posture or even get injured.

Exercises for abs. Working out the abs in the style of Vanpunchman is the least successful option. Because of the daily excessive and monotonous load, you can damage the spine. The abs themselves are minimally engaged, which makes this exercise ineffective.

Running for 10 kilometers. At first it is difficult to run all 10 kilometers, so if you have not previously run long distances, it is worth starting with 1-3 kilometers a day, gradually increasing the distance.

Even if you modify Saitama’s workout a little, the results will be stunning. You will lose a large percentage of fat, gain muscle mass, and your heart and lungs will work better. However, the most valuable reward, according to those who have been able to do the workout for 100 days, is an improved mental state. All obstacles seem to cease to exist, you no longer have to force yourself to do anything. Therefore, albeit in a lighter form, but still worth trying the Challenge Vanpanchmena to put in order not only the body, but also the mind.
