Climbing 1600 meters above sea level up the mountain to the ski slope, you expect to see skiers and snowboarders there. Even bigger jumps for good flies and loud tricks. You look with your eyes for rails for stylish jibbers and long slides. Snowmobiles? Maybe. Pretty girls? Absolutely! But do you expect motorcyclists on a ski slope? Absolutely not! That’s because you’ve never been to the Toyota Road Show.
Motofreestyle with snowboarders in the mountains of Sochi at an altitude of 1600 meters? Please! Quiksilver New Star Camp knows how to surprise all the participants. This has never happened in Russia before.
On April 5, open snowboarding jibbing competitions were held. Anyone could take part, the main thing is to show the judges that your board can slide not only on snow. For the participants the organizers prepared five rails of different complexity, a quarterpipe and, of course, a special wall for volride.
One of the judges was Denis “Bonus” Leontiev himself. A lot of cool riders took part in the qualification: brave beginners and experienced pros. Only 15 of the best and most badass guys made it to the finals. Taking into account the fact that one of them was a representative of Belarus, the competition officially became international.
After the qualification for all the spectators began the show of FMX 13 motorfistyle, in which the most famous rider in Russia – Alexey Kolesnikov – commanded the parade. A huge springboard was set up so that motorcycles landed directly on the snowboarders’ quater and flew over the railing where the guys were competing. Motofreestyle riders finished their performance with a savory backflip performed by Kolesnikov.
The spectators had no time to move away from the powerful jumps and motorcycle roar, as the final of the jibbing contest Toyota Road Show began. Riders were given 40 minutes for freesailing and complete freedom to choose their figures. How many times you manage to descend and land tricks – so many will be counted. Denis “Bonus” especially asked the guys to glide more, not to organize acrobatic competitions. And the riders heard his request.
The sound of sliding boards on the iron rails did not stop for a minute. Absolutely all participants gave their best and tried to surprise the judges in different ways. Someone emphasized on rotations in front of the rail and on the exit from it. Someone took amplitude flights before the volride, and, of course, there were tricks with one leg detached from the snowboard. Where without them? Style, applause, jibbing and a lot of fun!
Before the awarding of the snowboarders Kolesnikov and his FMX 13 team performed for the audience again. Now the guys made a real “burger” – they flew on the jump one after another almost without pause, which delighted many spectators. Speaking of spectators. The weather was not just happy – it was whispering. Bright sun, soft breeze and snowy white snow contributed to the fact that several thousand people gathered to watch the contest.
