L’One wrote an anthem for hockey players. Ovechkin loved it
“No problems – no teeth, no teeth – no problems.” A photo report from the shoot and the music video are inside.
Russian rapper L’One has taken a swing at writing a new hockey anthem. The song “Hockey Players” became one of the releases of the new nostalgic mini-album “1985” (from “Chernobyl 2. Exclusion Zone”). Already today in YouTube appeared the clip, to create which, by the rapper’s own admission, he was inspired by his comrades, professional hockey players – Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Kuznetsov and many others. The video was filmed in November at the VTB Ice Palace in Moscow.
“Since centuries, this game occupies a huge role in our culture. The text, by the way, uses a huge number of hockey expressions, understandable only to those who are engaged in this sport, listen carefully. Players of youth teams told me about them”, – says about the new release L’One.
Alexander Ovechkin, Washington Capitals forward: “I liked the track and the clip, everything is businesslike. Russian music is played in the locker room from time to time, but they haven’t put the new L’One track on yet. And about the clip: losing teeth during the game is more an occupational hazard than a problem. After the game you can easily restore everything. I’ve only lost one so far in my career.”
A brief glossary of hockey terms from the lyrics of the song:
tafgai – a hockey player who fights;
mouth guard;
cuff, a hockey glove;
overtime – extra time if there is a tie after three periods;
puck on the hook – the hook is the tip of the stick, and when the puck is on the hook, it means the player has possession of it;
