The public paid attention to Margot Robbie back in 2013, when the actress played a spectacular capricious blonde in “The Wolf of Wall Street”. And in 2016, she finally conquered the audience, appearing on the screen in the role of a daring madwoman from Gotham – the Joker’s lover Harley Quinn. Although the girl and before filming in “Suicide Squad” could boast a slim figure, she was not always so agile and plastic. To fit into the image, Robbie had to not only improve physical shape, but also to master acrobatics and elements of aerial gymnastics. We tell you how the actress has changed over the past few years and what her training in the pre-production period included.
Not all roles are the same: how has Margot Robbie changed?
It seems that Margot has never had any problems with her figure. The girl is characterized by delicate forms, and she has not yet had to radically thin or gain weight for the role. But this does not mean that all pictures were given to the actress equally easy. For example, before filming in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street” she did not have to exhaust herself with training. The figure is quite suitable for the “trophy” wife of the main character – stereotypical and shallow, but damn sexy blonde.
But to the movie “Tarzan. Legend”, which appeared on the screens in 2016, to prepare still had to prepare. For the role of Jane Porter actress lost a little weight to look more like a sophisticated Disney heroine. However, even then, Robbie did not deny herself in small joys. According to her, she could eat sweets during filming.
I was not going to lose a lot of weight even for the role of Jane in the movie “Tarzan. Legend.” I was a little ashamed in front of my partner Alexander Skarsgard, who throughout the filming followed a strict diet.
To boast twine and flexibility Harley Quinn, the actress had to pay special attention to stretching. Robbie practiced yoga with an emphasis on stretching and body ballet. And to make the training even more effective, to the exercises at the machine coach added weights on her legs. This is a great way to tighten the buttocks, says Hacker.
Another “secret” ingredient for success is swimming. It helps to work well in different muscle groups, and also gives a useful load on the heart. For one of the scenes the actress had to take not quite typical lessons. The girl turned to a professional swimmer to learn to hold her breath for a long time. Margot learned to meditate under water and slow down the metabolism, and also performed exercises to increase the volume of the lungs.
To keep in shape in her spare time from filming and prepare for some roles, the actress is engaged in the gym. Some exercises from the training plan she particularly likes. Among them:
- Squats with their own weight – 4 approaches of 20 times;
- Triceps extensions – 3-4 x 25 for each arm;
- Dumbbell side raises – 1 x 30;
- Standing dumbbell rotations – 1 x 40 (20 forward and 20 backward rotations);
- Bending arms with dumbbells – 1 x 20 for each arm;
- Straight twists – 1 x 25;
- “Shell” – 1 x 25 for each side.
In 2020, Margot Robbie returned to her role as the crazy and spectacular Harley Quinn in the movie Birds of Prey. She probably had to spend hours in the gym again to get back into tone and fight her opponents on movie screens again. Despite in some places tough training – ballet, extreme breathing exercises, acrobatics – in general, the training routine of the actress is quite universal. These exercises can be safely adopted to diversify their own classes. But remember that it is important to adjust the load, based on your capabilities and level of training.
