What to do to fall asleep quickly. 8 tips from a psychologist
The quality of sleep can be affected by the time of dinner and the choice of blanket.
How to fall asleep quickly if you are suffering from anxiety?
Stress and worries directly affect sleep. It can be difficult to fall asleep against a background of anxiety and negative thoughts. How can you help yourself to relax and get a good night’s rest?
Do breathing exercises
Spread your shoulders and make forward and backward shoulder circles. Lie down, inhale, and feel your lungs expand. Then rise up and exhale.
If you can’t breathe deeply and measuredly, try singing – it will have about the same effect.
Shake
If you feel shaky or stiff, allow yourself to jerk your whole body. Don’t try to force yourself to calm down. By releasing built-up tension, you will get rid of the adrenaline hormone and be able to fall asleep.
- Put some lavender essential oil on your pillow.
- If anxious thoughts are not going away, try “grounding”: write them on a pre-prepared piece of paper, as if you were physically throwing them out of your head.
