World record on the rope between the Moscow-Sit Towers

The height of 350 meters was conquered not immediately, one of them snapped off the cable.

Last weekend in Moscow, a new world record for highline – walking at high altitude on a stretched sling – was set. Seven professional highliners from Russia, Germany, France and Canada walked between the Oko and Neva Towers in Moscow City at a height of 350 meters, which is almost 100 meters higher than the previous record set in Mexico City.

The length of the distance was 245 meters. The names of all seven athletes will be included in the Guinness Book of Records.

The first to try out the sling was German Fridi Kühne. Kühne holds the record for the longest highline (1.9 km), the longest highline with eyes closed (1 km) and the longest highline without insurance (120 m). He completed the course on Saturday, with the other extreme athletes repeating his achievement a day later.

On Sunday, Nathan Paulin from France, the record holder in the highline (1662 m, 2017), Mia Noblet from Canada, the women’s record holder (2 km) and Russians Maxim Kagin, Alexander Gribanov, Gennady Skripko and Vladimir Murzaev successfully completed the distance.

However, the height was not immediately succumbed to the extreme athletes. During the training one of the participants fell off the rope at the height of the 100th floor, but thanks to the insurance he pulled himself back up and continued performing the trick.

Each of our athletes was already known for crazy achievements. Maxim Kagin walked on a sling over the Yenisei River, Alexander Gribanov – over Voroshilov Avenue in St. Petersburg between two 19-meter high buildings, Gennady Skripko crossed the Beryozovskoye Gorge on the border of the Stavropol Territory and Karachay-Cherkessia, and Vladimir Murzaev amazed Muscovites on New Year’s Day by climbing from one side of Tverskaya Street to the other.
