Who should not eat avocado? What can be dangerous if you eat too much of it?

Avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree (Persea Americana), of the laurel family. It is a very healthy fruit, because of its content of healthy fats, minerals (potassium) and vitamins (folic acid).

Also avocado is very rich in:

  • fats (70% of them are unsaturated, that is, those that reduce bad cholesterol);
  • minerals (60% more potassium than bananas, and there is also magnesium and low sodium);
  • vitamins (A, C, E, B vitamins and folic acid).

In addition, the fruit contains vegetable fiber and carbohydrates.

Avocado has many health benefits. Among other things, it is good for the heart: it helps reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol.

Nutrient deficiencies

For a diet to be as balanced as possible, other types of food are also needed. Avocado should only be part of a maximally varied diet, along with meat, fish or vegetables.

For example, the fruit does not contain protein and some minerals necessary for the body. Therefore, it is definitely not worth replacing part of a complete diet with it.

Liver damage

Avocado can be harmful for those who have liver problems. It contains anethole or estragole, which even in moderate amounts can be toxic to the liver and cause exacerbation of liver disease in predisposed people.

Allergy risk

Avocado is an exotic fruit, far from being fully understood by the Russian enzymatic system. Some people may develop an allergy or intolerance associated with the use of avocado. In this case, it should be completely abandoned to avoid unwanted reactions.

Cholesterol absorption

With some genetic features of the body and high levels of cholesterol in the blood, avocado can further increase it. The fact is that it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can block the proper absorption of cholesterol.

In addition, because of the fats contained in the fruit, it is not recommended for people with fatty hepatosis, cholecystitis and other diseases of the liver and gallbladder.

Avocados should also be avoided by those who take blood thinning medications. Vitamin K, which is part of the vegetable, improves blood clotting, which can cancel the effect of drugs.

Everything is good in moderation. It is important to know it: in the case of avocados, it is 30 g or 1/5 of a fruit per day.
