The other day in the Network there was information that the creator of “VKontakte” and “Telegram”, one of the most popular Russian IT-businessmen Pavel Durov “went on hunger strike”. As it turns out, this is not another way to express his protest, but a deliberate action to increase productivity. We deal with whether it is worth using his diet and how it can help.

“For the past 15 years I have not drunk alcohol, used caffeine, popped pills, eaten meat or fast food. For the last year I have eliminated gluten, dairy, eggs and fructose from my diet.”

Pavel assures that such restrictions have benefited him. He definitely became more productive and forgot about illnesses. During this period, Durov caught a cold only once.

Of course, the stage of refusal of “harmful” did not become for the entrepreneur the last instance. In May, he limited his diet to fish and seafood.

If you have access to fresh wild fish, I definitely recommend this diet to increase productivity. Unlike farm meat or farm products, wild fish has been eaten by mankind for tens of thousands of years, so this diet makes its own sense to me, which is not the case with veganism.

Food Denial

This stage in Durov’s food experiments came in early June. Water is the only thing left in Pavel’s diet, but he does not complain about his well-being. Hunger improves mental clarity.

Fasting is a great way to cleanse and reboot the digestive system. It also gives the immune system a break.

Our hunter-gatherer ancestors often went without food, so our bodies should have periods of hunger at least once a year. That’s why most religions have fasting – it’s healthy and necessary for both body and mind.

What do doctors say?

The practice of fasting to cleanse the body has been around for a long time. But most doctors still do not recommend reducing the calorie content of your diet so drastically. A low-calorie diet with the right and healthy foods will be much more effective for weight loss and cleansing.

Still, if you dare to do this experiment, doctors strictly warn: the fasting process should be started with a visit to a doctor and preferably with a full medical examination.
