How to determine if you are exercising too much

How do you know if you’re exercising too much?

We tell you with a health coach.

Being healthy is the trend today. Motivating posts of fitness bloggers, taut athletic bodies, hundreds of online training courses on body transformation. For some, the desire to get the perfect shape turns into an endless marathon, where there is simply no finish line. So how to understand whether the load is excessive and when it is worth taking a break?

Ekaterina Veselova

It’s important to build up your regimen properly. Excessive exercise leads to more frequent illnesses and exacerbation of chronic infections.

What should you pay attention to?

If the sport acquires radical features, health is out of the question. When instead of moderate daily exercise you spend hours torturing yourself in the gym, you only make yourself worse. To avoid this, it is worth paying attention to these indicators.

High heart rate

Ekaterina: The more physical activity, the more effort the heart makes – to pump the volume of blood needed by the organs and tissues. A significant increase in heart rate (more than 150 beats per minute), especially when accompanied by sharp pains in the chest, creates the preconditions for the development of cardiovascular disease. So don’t forget to measure your heart rate during your workouts. This is now quite easy thanks to fitness bracelets.

Constant muscle pain

When rest is not enough, the muscles simply do not have time to recover. Lactic acid accumulates in muscle fibers, the excess of which leads to acidosis – acidification of the entire body. This is a condition in which the acid-base balance is disturbed, chasing constant pain, nausea and shortness of breath.

Reduced immunity

Excessive strain leads to more frequent illnesses and exacerbation of chronic infections. This can happen due to the depletion of the body’s reserve capabilities, primarily the endocrine and immune systems.

How to check the level of exertion?

The test with squats will help to choose the optimal load, but additional consultation with a doctor will not be superfluous.

In addition, if the next day after training, you have such symptoms, the load is not suitable for you.

  • Increased appetite and cravings for sweets, fast food.
  • Weepiness.
  • Bad mood.
  • Irritability.
  • Lack of strength and energy, sleepiness.
  • General malaise.

Ekaterina: You can be convinced of the appropriate load after a month of training. There are external changes, the ability to withstand long intervals between meals, stabilized mood and increased energy levels. Movement is indeed life, and sport is one of the main generators of a healthy body. But there should be a measure in everything.
