How to get back to working out after the New Year: 5 tips
What to do if the holidays have passed and your body can’t understand it in any way?
The New Year is behind us, which means it’s time to get back to the gym, resume jogging, and adjust your diet and daily regimen. We sincerely believe that you are the one who hasn’t abandoned your workouts and is in your best shape. But if suddenly something went wrong, we tell you how to stop eating olivier and start training.
Start smoothly
Exercising until you lose your heart rate on the first day is not a good idea. Start with cardio: two to three workouts a week is enough. After a week, add strength training. Listen to your body and do not overload it. To love sports, you need to leave the gym (not crawl out!) in a good mood.
Tips: Try functional training. It has dynamics, change of rhythm and exercises. Workouts, where cardio alternates with strength training, teach us endurance, speed up our metabolism and train the heart. And it burns more calories than monotonous workouts.
Make time
“I don’t have time to work out” is not an argument. To be in good shape, all you need to do is wake up just half an hour earlier than usual and do some simple exercises:
● stretch and stretch your joints;
● Stand in a plank (30 seconds is enough to start with, then the time can be gradually increased);
● lying on your stomach, put your hands behind your head and raise your body 15 times;
● do push-ups 15 times;
● perform abs exercises while lying on your back (15 times);
● do 15 squats.
Love the outdoors
Running outside is always a good thing. Even in cold weather. But there are a few nuances here. Do not run on asphalt: due to the lack of cushioning, there is a risk of overloading your joints and getting injured. Go to a park with snow-covered paths or to the stadium.
Make a choice of shoes in favor of sneakers on a thick gel sole, which will prevent slipping. It’s a good idea to bring a bottle of warm water. Drink it while running to warm your throat.
Revise your diet
In winter, you need to be more attentive to nutrition. Because of the cold weather, the body is eager to increase the fat layer, from which we are constantly drawn to caloric food. The situation is aggravated by the fact that we walk less: we switch to transportation. If you want sweets or fast food – eat, but only once a week. The rest of the days lay on seasonal vegetables: potatoes, beets, all kinds of cabbage, celery, turnips and carrots. And to avoid overeating meat, replace it with mushroom soup.
Do not overeat in the evening
If you feel like eating in the evening, it means that you have not eaten properly during the day. Try not to skip meals: eat (snack) ideally every three hours. As a light dinner is great cottage cheese or a light salad. For example, tomatoes, tuna and lemon juice.
