The trailrunner set two world records

The athlete passed Mountain Race and “Round the World” around Elbrus in the minimum time.

Dmitry Mityaev, one of the world’s strongest trailrunners, completed the 111km Mountain Race in 13 hours and 19 minutes and the 140km and 6400m+ Round-the-World Race in 16 hours and 20 minutes. The conditions of his solo race were as close to race conditions as possible. Dmitry had a full set of equipment and food stations were placed along the route.

How were the records set?

The athlete started on July 31 at 4 a.m. from the Azau glade. Dmitry set a record at the Mountain Race in Verkhny Baksan, running the distance 2.5 hours faster than the previous record holder Andrei Khramov. Then Mityaev ran another 30 kilometers to Azau glade to close the ring of the “Circumnavigation” and update another record.

In his Instagram, the athlete admitted that he had always wondered why other athletes run these routes slowly.

… now I realize that the problem is simply in the athletes themselves, not in the complexity of the track.

The athlete already had a similar race under his belt. Dmitry participated in a race in France – 140 km and 7000 m+.
