Unusual disease: how does the girl who ate only chips and buns for 10 years look like?

Various challenges are at the peak of popularity on the Internet. In pursuit of followers and views, social media stars often go for strange and unexpected experiments: a week without water, ten days without sleep or a month on bananas alone. But life is still more inventive than any blogger. A girl from the UK Izzy Cole for ten years ate only chips and bread.

So what was the reason for such an unusual diet? And how does a person who has been eating “unhealthy” food for years look like?

The food caused vomiting and panic.

Until the age of three, Izzy was no different from her peers, and to the first whims of her daughter in food parents did not take seriously. However, soon adults realized that the girl is not fastidious, and really have an aversion to food. Izzy often vomited, and at the mere thought of food she was horrified. The only thing the girl could eat was potato chips and buns.

“I was very picky about the structure of food. I preferred chips and buns because they were firm and dense. Any soft or moist dish seemed like disgusting baby puree to me. I couldn’t stand pasta or anything with chunks like yogurt or juice. It’s like a phobia. Most of the food made me anxious and I started choking. I felt so bad that I ate buns and chips at almost every meal,” Cole told Somic Sands.

Socialization problems

Because of her eating behavior, Izzy felt like an outcast and was constantly depressed. It was especially hard for her after transitioning to middle school.

“It started to affect me socially. I was at the age where people make friends and form social circles, but my food issues prevented me from feeling comfortable amongst my peers. I couldn’t eat with them, or take take-out food on outings together. I felt like a burden, I felt like I was constantly annoying people,” says the girl.

Fortunately, next to Izzy has always been a mom Kim. The woman from childhood took her daughter to doctors, but those in one voice said about the absence of medical problems. “You just have a very picky child,” – endlessly heard Kim.

Deliverance in two hours

The solution came when Izzy was already 14 years old. Her mom happened to stumble across information about Felix Economaxim – a psychologist and clinical hypnotherapist – and made an appointment for her daughter. In just one two-hour session, the specialist not only identified the cause of Izzy’s problems, but was able to cure her. It turned out that the girl suffered from selective eating disorder. In this disease, a person eats a limited number of foods, and the possibility of trying something new causes fear. Often patients can only eat food of one color or texture, in addition, they have a dulled sense of hunger.

“I first heard about this disease. For years I was terribly lonely and thought I was the only one with this kind of eating problem. I finally realized that I wasn’t making up the problem, but was actually suffering from an eating disorder. Felix asked me to take the foods I was most afraid of. I can’t explain it, but after the session something clicked in me and I ate a chicken sandwich and yogurt with fruit. I didn’t feel nauseous and the fear just disappeared. I stood in the middle of the street eating pineapples and crying. It was the happiest day,” Izzy recalls.

Four years have passed since then. Izzy Cole went to university and her menu has expanded considerably. Now instead of chips and buns, the girl eats a lot of fruits and vegetables, and her favorite food is now chicken, which she used to hate.
