It is known that appearance is directly related to nutrition. So, after fatty or sweet food on the face can appear rashes, and excessively salty dishes often cause dehydration and dryness. And some negatively affect the skin in general and accelerate the aging process. The list of such products was compiled by the Turkish edition of Sabah.

Sugar

Today, many people refuse sugar for various reasons. In addition to the fact that it contributes to weight gain, it also negatively affects the skin. Sugar consumption triggers a process in the body called glycation. It damages proteins and lepids, which directly affect the firmness and elasticity of the skin.

Accordingly, the more sugar you consume, the greater the risk of early wrinkles.

Salt

Salty food retains water in the body, which provokes swelling. It also “sucks” fluid out of cells, and if you do not maintain water balance, it can lead to dehydration. As a result, the skin gets wrinkled and ages faster.

Fast food

There is no doubt about the harmfulness of burgers and fries. However, the problem is not only in the extra pounds that will inevitably appear if you abuse fast food restaurants. The fact is that fast food, as well as in fried fatty dishes, canned food and some other products in large quantities contain trans fats.

These substances increase the risk of cardiovascular disease and negatively affect the blood vessels. If the skin does not receive enough oxygen and its blood supply is impaired, the aging process is faster.

Processed meat

Sausages, sausages and other processed meat products cannot be called useful either. They contain a lot of preservatives and salts – although they allow to extend the shelf life of products, they are harmful to health. Like any salty food, processed meat can cause dehydration and inflammation.

Moreover, such products negatively affect the level of vitamin C, which, in turn, plays an important role in the synthesis of collagen. The latter is responsible for the elasticity of the skin.

Fried potatoes

Potatoes contain a lot of starch – in the body it breaks down to glucose, that is, sugar, which, as already mentioned, is not very beneficial to health.

In addition, if you fry potatoes with a lot of oil, free radicals will be released – special substances, products of the breakdown of harmful fats, inflammatory processes or metabolic disorders. Due to oxidizing agents, these substances are able to damage cells, including skin cells, at the molecular level.

It is safest to consume potatoes in boiled or baked form.

Kaffe

It is believed that beverages high in caffeine can also cause dehydration. As a result, the skin becomes thinner, drier and more vulnerable to external influences.

However, according to the Hydration Index, which was developed by scientists from the UK’s Loughborough University in 2015, coffee and tea retain fluid in the body in the same way as plain water and sports drinks.

Spicy food

Foods with spices and savories have health benefits as well. However, spicy food should not be overused. Such food contributes to the expansion of blood vessels and badly affects the skin prone to couperosis. Excessive use of spicy food can lead to redness, swelling and even allergic reactions.

Charcoal meat

Scientists from the Laboratory of Health and Environmental Pollution of Jinan University (Guangzhou) found out that when a charcoal grill is fired up, a large amount of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) is released. This occurs as a result of the decomposition of cellulose under the influence of temperature. Most PAHs are carcinogens – once in the body, they can affect the structure of DNA and increase the risk of cancer.

According to the study, every day a person gets about 1-5 mg of PAHs together with food. At the same time, in people who regularly eat fried meat, this figure can reach 6-9 mg. Therefore, it is more useful to refrain from this method of cooking.
