The experiment: how did I eat right on just $2 a day?
Personal experience of a fitness blogger who proves that eating right is not cheap at all.
The opinion that eating right is very expensive is firmly entrenched in people’s heads. Indeed, pp-recipes often look like a list of ingredients for brewing potions, many of which are clearly beyond the means of the average metropolitan resident. But it is possible to eat exceptionally healthy products and stay within the daily calorie allowance without squandering the entire budget. Fitness blogger Tanya TGYM proved it on her own experience.
The girl set a goal of only 2 dollars to buy products for the ration for the whole day….
- Chicken leg 2 pcs.* 19,01= 45,22 rubles.
- Eggs 4 pcs.* 6,57= 26,26 rubles.
- Raisins 40 gr. – 3,57 rubles.
- Buckwheat 80 g. – 2,38 rubles.
- Oatmeal 80 gr. – 4,28 rubles
- String Beans 120 g. – 14,15 rubles.
- Carrot – 2.19 rubles.
- Cucumber – 19.29 rubles.
- Seasonal apple – 3.52 rubles.
- Dried parsley – 1.43 rubles.
- Tea bag – 2.38 rubles.
Total: 117.43 rubles ($1.79).
So, what dishes can be prepared from such a modest set of products?
Ontbijt
For a healthy breakfast you will need:
- 80 g. oatmeal
- 17 g. raisins
- 1 egg
Lunch
With the second meal things are a little more complicated. We will cook soup and the second.
For the first, we will cut half a carrot and an egg. Let’s take some string beans, chicken leg, parsley and salt.
Pour all the ingredients into the prepared broth, salt to taste and cook for a few minutes until ready.
Diner
Fry the remaining beans with egg whites and add seasonings. A light and easy to prepare dish is great for dinner.
In addition, an apple is left for snacks during the day. It can be divided or eaten all at once.
Such a menu of 5 meals contains 1665 kcal, 122 g of proteins, 64 g of fats and 192 g of carbohydrates. All this is quite well within the daily norm, and the products do contain useful vitamins and elements that allow the body to function normally during the day.
So the myth that proper nutrition is expensive is finally dispelled. And if you still don’t believe it, try the experiment yourself.
