Gigi Hadid: I eat healthy food for my figure and a burger to stay sane
How does a model manage to stay in shape without exhausting herself with diets and workouts?
American supermodel for many years confidently holds a position in the rating of the highest paid models in the world, being a favorite of many famous designers, for example, Donatella Versace. A year ago, 25-year-old Gigi Hadid and singer Zayn Malik became parents for the first time. A month after the birth of their daughter, the spectacular long-legged blonde has already appeared in front of fans in great shape. It’s all about a comprehensive approach.
Voeding
Gigi’s morning begins with coffee and a dense protein breakfast. The ideal breakfast of the model looks like this: eggs with toast made of whole grain or whole wheat flour, serving as a source of fiber, and orange juice. Before sports, Gigi drinks citrus juice with cayenne pepper, which speeds up the blood. Despite the restrictions, Gigi organizes cheatmeals as well.
The model takes a rational approach to lifestyle, honestly admits that burgers and fries are her weakness, and sushi is the best choice for meeting with friends. After all, she realizes that it’s impossible to forbid something forever. The fashion star was a guest on Gordon Ramsay’s MasterChef show and even won by cooking a jalapeño burger.
Training
As a former professional athlete, she knows the importance of warming up. Every workout starts with 15 minutes of jumping rope – the secret to slim legs and hips.
The supermodel combines strength training with boxing 4 times a week. It became her new passion when, after moving and taking off in her career, Hadid got bored with volleyball and equestrian sports. She spends at least an hour in the ring.
The model’s favorite workout looks like this:
- boxing as a cardio warm-up (10 minutes);
- twisting in a lying position (40 times, three repetitions);
- intense boxing (10 minutes);
- twisting while lying on the back with legs bent at the knees (40 times, three repetitions);
- boxing (10 minutes);
- plank (60 seconds);
- straight leg raises from a supine position (25 times, four repetitions).
“Boxing has replaced all workouts! It pumps up the muscles perfectly. But the main thing is that I release my negative emotions in the ring!”
Gezondheid
Not many people know that Gigi suffers from Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland that usually leads to impaired thyroid function. This factor also has a big impact on her lifestyle: at times, the supermodel has had to eliminate dairy products or soy from her diet.
“Yes, I have an athletic body type. But I like my body. I have breasts, abs, buttocks and hips. I represent a type that the fashion industry used to be uninterested in.”
From the very beginning of her modeling career, the girl was criticized: experts considered her “too full” for a supermodel. After the birth of the child, fans and journalists again encouraged and began to “attack” the model because of her figure. However, a few months after giving birth, Gigi sharply lost weight and exposed a perfectly flat stomach and waist, which became thinner than before the birth.
