“Golden sleep”: how the quality of rest depends on the time of day

Many people underestimate the importance of sleep and routines. In fact, the time at which you sleep can affect not only your well-being, but also your health. Let’s find out with somnologist Olga Begasheva how important “golden sleep” is and what is fraught with sleep deprivation.

Is the sleep schedule so important and how does it affect the results in sports?

When you do sports, especially with heavy loads, there are only two ways to restore energy: sleep and food. Even if you follow a special diet, you should pay special attention to rest. You should try to lie down and get up at the same time.

As soon as we are deprived of sleep, we pave the way to disease.

Does the quality of sleep depend on the time of day?

Absolutely. And it is not only about the regime, which must be strictly observed. The fact is that the night can be divided into three periods: during each of them rests one or another part of the body. Therefore, late going to bed or early rising interfere with the normal functioning of the body.

Defirst third of the night (from ten to one hour) is the phase of deep sleep: slow rhythms of the brain and powerful recovery of the whole body. If you deprive yourself of this stage of sleep, the body does not have time to recover. As a consequence, a huge number of somatic and gastrointestinal diseases occur.

The second third of the night (from one o clock to threeo’ clock) – biologically active hours of recovery of the stomach. And in the last third (from three to six) the intestines are restored.

Why is it important to sleep in the first third of the night?

It is at this time that somatotropic hormone is released: it is involved in muscle building, body recovery, normalization of mental state. As the somnologist notes, somatotropic hormone is the hormone of leaders. In people who are calm to life’s difficulties, can control their emotions and have a strong immune system, as a rule, its level is elevated.

You should not deprive yourself of sleep in the first third of the night, as this will be fraught with hypersensitivity and a constant sense of stress.

About what you should not do before going to bed, see in the video “Championship”.

Is it possible to get up earlier than 6 a.m.?

According to a somnologist, when a person gets up very early, there is a shift in the sleep phase. Then cortisol, the stress hormone that should be produced in the morning from about six to seven hours, begins to be produced at night.

This shift can lead to the development of diseases. For example, metabolic syndrome – high blood pressure, insulin resistance. Subsequently, even if you consume a normal amount of sugar, it will not be processed by the body and nourish the blood, which will lead to the development of type 2 diabetes.
