“For many people, getting back into the workforce after a vacation is an ordeal. You were away from your workplace and home, did not solve current problems and tasks, did a general reset and renewed. And everything that was before the vacation seems like events from the distant past, almost from another life… How to tune in, collect yourself and get into this flow without stress?

There are a few lifehacks that will help you get used to the fast-paced work and city rhythms after relaxation”.

1. Give yourself a couple days to adjust

If at all possible, don’t embark on labor feats right away. Give yourself a couple days. This adaptation will mitigate the unpleasant consequences of returning to work or study immediately after the vacation. If you don’t have this opportunity, try to do everything at a slightly slower pace – to give your brain and body a chance to get used to the old rhythms without stress. A couple days of slowing down will be enough.

2. Do a quick audit of your business

Even if you’ve only been away for a few days, it feels like you have a thousand unfinished tasks piling up. If you feel overwhelmed by commitments and deadlines, do a quick audit of all your to-do’s. Sit down in a quiet place and write down everything you feel needs to be done immediately.

Take colored markers and use them to divide the actions that need to be done into “Necessary,” “Delegated,” and “Non-urgent.” This will make it clear which actions need to be done immediately and which ones can be put off for now. Also there may be something that can be delegated to someone else.

3. Increase physical activity

If your brain is overloaded with thoughts and worries, think of your body and give it physical activity. Exercising, going to the gym, impromptu dancing, or just taking a walk in the fresh air will allow your mind to relax. It will then be easier for you to focus on your current endeavors. It is important exactly to gradually resume physical activity, because during your vacation you probably were not very active and ate not quite healthy.

4. eliminate unhealthy foods

During the vacation, many did not deny themselves anything, abusing harmful products: sweets, ice cream, fried food, pizza. Food is one way to relax and switch. However, once back in the city, it’s important to resume the healthy eating habits you had before you left.

If there were none, create them. It is important to avoid drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, overeating, and the craze for snacking between meals. You can introduce fresh and seasonal fruits, vegetables, fiber-rich foods such as whole grains and legumes. This will allow a return to normal physical fitness and a healthy psycho-emotional state.

5. Start your new work week on Thursday

Research has shown that for most people, it is most comfortable to come out of vacation near the end of the week. Then you can gradually immerse yourself in the weekday atmosphere. There are fewer tasks on Thursday than on Monday or Tuesday, so it’s less stressful to get to the workplace.

You won’t be tormented by coworkers, and you can slowly integrate into common processes. On Thursday you get into work mode, on Friday you continue. This is usually a shortened day. The weekend will follow, when you can recover and prepare for the start of the next week.

6. Have something unfinished waiting for you

In the last working days, many people try to complete all the tasks as much as possible. If there is something that is not urgent, on the contrary, it is better to leave it undone. After a vacation, it will be much easier to continue familiar tasks, and so gradually get involved in the work processes. Starting a new task with an empty head, sitting in front of a white page of a screen, is much more difficult than continuing what you have already started.

7. Motivate yourself to work

The best motivation to work is to feel and visualize the results. You can visualize getting money or things you can afford with it: travel, branded items, houses, cars.

Visualize your coworkers and boss showering you with assigments as soon as you walk into the office. The bills drop to the floor with a soft rustle to the applause of everyone. The boss personally shakes your hand and tells you how good you are. You collect all the bills in a big bag and go to buy everything you’ve wanted for a long time.

8. Get a massage

Most likely, your body will feel the strain of your busy schedule first of all. It will be sedentary, and that’s where stress will accumulate. Usually it ends up in illness, when the body can not withstand and thus takes time to recover.

However, you can relieve stress with preventive methods. For example, go for a massage. Whole body or cervical-collar zone, as it is in this area that the main blocks are formed after excessive emotional and informational load. Choose what is closer and more accessible to you. The body will be grateful and will not let you down by unexpectedly going into illness.

9. Use essential oils

The effect of essential oils on our brain is scientifically proven. They tonify and increase concentration and being in the moment no worse than a few cups of coffee. Perfumes, on the contrary, create the effect of euphoria and help you mentally escape from the present to the seashore, on a date or somewhere else.

You can put an aroma stone on your desk and put on it a couple drops of essential oil for concentration: lemon, rosemary or petitgrain. At home, on the contrary, you should use more relaxing and supportive essential oils. For example: lavender, cedarwood, sandalwood, vanilla.
