Total relaxation: how to relax after a workout

Clogged muscles after a hard workout are the Achilles’ heel of many novice athletes. Whether it’s running, Crossfit, or exercising on machines, without some preparation, muscles can’t escape a state of hypertonic tone. Let’s look at a few ways to help you relax after exercise and reduce discomfort.

What is a blocked muscle?

A clogged muscle is a spastically contracted muscle, or in other words, a muscle that is in a state of hypertonic tone. Why does this happen? It’s pretty simple. If you overdo the approaches, take an extra pancake on the barbell or overestimate your abilities on the treadmill, you get a battered muscle. This can also happen if you are still a beginner – in this case microtraumas can appear on your muscles. In this case, the body begins to produce cells that repair tissues, resulting in diametrical growth of the muscle.

Pain that occurs after an intense workout usually passes after a couple of days of rest. But if the discomfort persists or becomes more intense, it may be a sign of serious injury – you should immediately consult a doctor.

Severe muscle pain during a workout is not a good sign and could indicate a sprain or injury.

How to relax tight muscles?

Sauna or hot bath. “Hot” procedures will accelerate blood circulation, oxygenate the muscles and relieve spasms. And if you use this method in the evening, it will also help you sleep.

Stretching. As a rule, this method tops the list of the most underrated. However, it is one of the most effective ways to combat clogged muscles. Stretching should be done both before and after a workout.

Massage. Perhaps the most obvious way. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that not every massage can have a positive effect on the muscles and relieve pain. Do not approach it carelessly: it is best to consult a knowledgeable specialist.

Swimming. Even non-intensive water procedures contribute to muscle recovery. Swim in warm water and at a moderate pace.

Green tea. Antioxidants – substances that help to improve the tone of the body. And there is plenty of them in green tea. The main thing is to consume it in moderation, because this drink is also known for its diuretic properties.

Healthy sleep. A healthy sleep is a sleep that lasts from eight to nine hours. But in fact, for each person, the duration is calculated separately. Some are quite enough and five hours, and someone is obliged to all ten.

It is worth considering that each individual method can differently affect the organisms of different people. Try all methods and their combinations to find the most effective one for you.
