Who and what are the benefits of strawberries?

Strawberries are an appetizing berry of warm summer days. There is a joke that in summer you can eat strawberries instead of seeds. In June the season of berries from Crimea, Kuban, Stavropol and Volgograd begins. And by the middle of the month, varieties grown in the Moscow region appear on the shelves.

Ripe strawberries – a record-breaker in vitamin C content: just five berries are enough to satisfy the daily need for it in an adult. Strawberries are also high in iodine, necessary to maintain normal thyroid function, and manganese, which improves the production of serotonin (“the hormone of happiness”) and helps enzymes.

The berry is rich in other nutrients as well.

Vitamin C

There are 60 mg of vitamin C in 100 g of the berry. Its antioxidant effect makes strawberries effective in the treatment of inflammatory processes in the joints and nasopharynx. Vitamin C is indispensable for strengthening immunity and normalizing the cardiovascular system.

B vitamins

They are necessary for the full functioning of the central nervous system and the brain. Vitamins help to produce sufficient energy and keep the body in tone.

Fiber

High fiber content has a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal tract, normalizes the digestive process.

Vitamin E

In 100 g of strawberries contains 0.8 mg of this important vitamin. Vitamin E slows down the aging process, improves heart function and increases the endurance of muscle tissue.

Potassium, sodium and magnesium

These are essential trace minerals for cardiovascular, nerve and muscle health. In addition, these substances maintain an optimal water and acid-alkaline balance in the body. The high content of magnesium and potassium in strawberries helps normalize blood pressure and vascular tone, improve blood circulation in the extremities.

Phosphorus

An important trace element for the full functioning of the body:

  • takes a leading role in the formation and strengthening of bone tissue;
  • normalizes acid-base balance;
  • helps maintain energy balance and cellular metabolism.

Iron

Strawberries contain iron, so it helps to increase hemoglobin levels, improves the work of the hematopoietic and circulatory systems. I recommend adding this berry to your diet for iron deficiency anemia.

Zinc

Improves skin regeneration and promotes wound healing, helps to absorb vitamins A and C. The zinc contained in strawberries is useful for reproductive health: it improves libido and normalizes the hormonal system.

What else strawberries are useful for

Strawberries are useful for maintaining women’s beauty and health. Antioxidant properties and vitamins slow down the aging process, improve the condition of the skin, making it elastic and radiant. Strawberries help strengthen blood vessels and normalize blood circulation, this reduces the risk of uterine bleeding.

Vitamin B complex helps women cope with premenstrual syndrome, improves mood and calms the nervous system, protects against stress and depression.

Strawberries are a source of folic acid, useful for women’s reproductive health. Strawberries contain more of it than raspberries and grapes. Folic acid is especially useful for pregnant women: it has a beneficial effect on the fetus and reduces the risk of disease in the future child.

The calorie content of berries is very low – only 36 kcal per 100 g of product, so this dessert will appeal to those who watch the figure.

Do not forget that strawberries are a strong allergen. It should not be included in the diet of children under a year old, and if they are prone to allergies – and up to two years old.
