Where to wakesurf in Moscow? 6 best places to ride

If the first month of summer has already bored you with the classic vacation by the water, swimming and sunbathing, we have good news for you. Wakesurfing is a great alternative to relaxation. We tell you where to go for water activities.

What is Wakesurfing?

If you prefer to vacation energetically, wakesurfing is perfect. It’s for those who love or would like to learn how to ride the waves on a board. After all, wakesurfing is a simplified version of classic surfing, which is usually practiced on the ocean. Only in the first case, the waves are created not by the elements, but by a tugboat. It is on this artificial wave that fans of activity on the water will have to ride.

Professional surfers consider wake surfing to be more of an entertainment than a professional sport. Unlike its “big brother”, wakesurfing can be practiced by almost everyone. After a few attempts, many people manage to get on the board. This is not the case with ocean surfing. Nevertheless, wakesurfing can be a great platform for those who want to race on natural waves. At least on the spots you will be taught to stand confidently on the board.

Development of wakesurfing in Moscow

The history of classic surfing begins in the Pacific Ocean regions. Some Peruvians believe that it was their ancestors who surfed the water more than 4 thousand years ago. But Hawaii is considered to be the center of the world surfing.

But wakesurfing was born much later – in the XX century, when the idea came to fix a rope on the boat and ride a board, holding on to it.

Despite the fact that there is no sea or ocean in the capital, Muscovites are very fond of wakesurfing and enjoy spending their weekends riding the waves. Perhaps because this kind of sport is quite exotic for Moscow. At wakesurfing lessons you can let off some steam after a hard work week and have a great time with friends and family.

Why is Wakesurfing Cool?

Among the pros of this activity, we’ve highlighted a few that, in our opinion, are the most important.

  1. Great activity for company. If your friends and family are also athletes, why not spend the weekend actively? Add some variety to your routine.
  2. It’s for everyone. Even those who have never stood on a board can learn the sport. Remember that some people need more attempts and others less. Don’t get upset if it doesn’t work right away.
  3. Practice option. Wakesurfing is not only fun, but also a physical activity. You need to work with your legs and body, keep your balance and try not to fall into the water. Such training will definitely improve your balance and engage your deep muscles.
  4. Opportunity to be in nature. It is nice to escape from the city bustle and everyday life sometimes. Sports in nature helps to distract and really relax.
