You can do anything if you stop trying to do everything at once

Every person in the modern world wants to succeed in all spheres – to build harmonious relationships, to achieve career growth at a prestigious job, to have enough money in the bank account, to travel. The list can go on endlessly, but the essence will be the same – not always everything works out the first time. Here’s what you can do about it.

How to focus on the goal

For a goal to motivate you, it must be an extension of your value.

Before you set a goal, see how it aligns with your true wants and needs. Many people set goals for the sake of checking a box. After all, just having a goal is better than nothing. If that’s the case with you, then there’s nothing to expect cool results. It only ignites when it reflects the real you and is a beacon on the path to your personal vision.

The next step is to choose to live a purposeful life. And that means taking responsibility for all your desires and trying to do the best you can to realize them. True goals motivate and inspire, give you the desire to live and move forward. To make your life more purposeful, you need to follow the following algorithm.

Define your goals consciously. Stay alone with yourself, calm down, take a deep breath in and out, if necessary, listen to your feelings, hear not only your mind, but also your heart.

Prioritize and ask yourself questions: “What do I want?”, “Where do I want to go?”, “What do I want to add to my life?”, “How do I see my life in three, five, or 10 years?”

Make a concrete plan of action. This is a very important step in achieving your goals. It will help you determine the sequence of your actions leading to goal fulfillment. Unfortunately, many people have resistance here and have a lot of questions. Let’s look at an example.

Let’s assume that your goal is to lose five kilograms in six months. Then answer the following questions:

What steps are required to achieve this goal:

  • create a meal plan;
  • Determine what kind of activity I will add to my life;
  • what days I will exercise;
  • whether I will exercise on my own or find a trainer;
  • once a month check-ins and measurements.

What resources are needed to accomplish the goal:

  • find a trainer if I decide to work out with one;
  • buy a gym membership;
  • possibly find a friend/friend to keep me company;
  • replace the food in my refrigerator with healthier foods.

When exactly to take action

Here can help any online calendar or planner on the refrigerator, where you can write down in detail on what date what action you will do. Then it’s important to stay on schedule and follow it.

Important: don’t set yourself more than three things to do per day, otherwise your brain will decide it’s too much and you’ll just give up in the first month.

Check your actions

Don’t forget to stop once in a while and check if these actions are bringing you closer to your goal. You need to be as involved in the process as possible, not do everything on automatic, and if you see that some action does not help you, cross it out or replace it.

After you take the quiz, see what value your goal relates to. For example, to reach an income of 100,000 rubles. You’ve been setting it for several years, but you can’t reach it.

You took the test and saw that such a value as “wealth” ranks 15th. Then it’s no surprise that this goal is not being achieved. It doesn’t motivate you and reflects the real you. The most important values for us are the first 8-10 values. These are the ones we need to set goals in. Try it!
