Fathers and children: famous families of footballers

Children of famous footballers always arouse public interest, and some of them even decide to follow in the footsteps of famous parents. However, many fans expect them to have the same tremendous success in their sports career. But can talent be passed on “by inheritance”? We tell you which of the sons of prominent figures in the world of soccer have continued their father’s work.

Two Cherchesovs

Stanislav Cherchesov, the son of Stanislav Cherchesov, followed in his parents’ footsteps and became a goalkeeper. Of course, it’s not easy for the younger Stas, he doesn’t play for Lokomotiv or Spartak and he is still far away from the national team. Now he plays for FC Olimp-Dolgoprudny.

Zidanes

Zinedine Zidane, the legendary Real Madrid coach, is a father of many children. His four sons strive to repeat their father’s success, but only two are now playing sports professionally. Enzo Zidane is an attacking midfielder who plays for Vidad, while Luca is a goalkeeper for Rayo Vallecano.

Simeone’s team

The coach of the Spanish “Atletico” competes with Zidane not only on the soccer field. The famous Simeone has grown an extremely successful footballer Giovanni, who has already managed to become famous in Italy, playing for Fiorentina. Now he plays for Italian club Cagliari and the national team of Argentina.

Cheryshev duo

A whole soccer dynasty – Dmitri-father and Denis-son. Dmitri in his time became famous throughout Spain, scoring a goal against Barcelona in 1998! Denis learned his lesson and did the same, playing for Villarreal. Now Cheryshev Jr. plays for Valencia and plays for the Russian national team.

Hope Vea

George Weah is a world soccer legend, golden ball winner and current president of Liberia. His son Timothy does not have Liberian citizenship, but is quite capable of repeating his father’s success in sports. Now he is a professional soccer player and, largely due to good training in PSG, is showing great promise. Now Timothy plays for the French club “Lille” and the national team of the United States.

Treasure Kluiverts

Dutch soccer star Patrick Kluivert is the father of four sons! Justin Kluivert, who is now 21 years old, is a midfielder for Roma, but temporarily plays for German Leipzig. The son managed to surpass his father: in January 2017, he was accepted into the core of Ajax. That’s what it means, a student surpasses his teacher!

Alone in the field Schmeichel

Unlike other soccer families, the Schmeichels are reluctant to share the glory. Kasper Schmeichel, son of five-time APL champion Peter, has twice been voted Denmark’s best soccer player and was England’s 2015-2016 champion. Kasper can not stand comparisons with his father and still suffers from inflated expectations.

Sport is a family affair! But we are sure that stars do not become stars at all thanks to successful relatives. The secret of success lies in determination, education and discipline, although natural talent and a bit of luck are never superfluous.
