Who are sun eaters and why do they refuse to eat?

Let’s get to the bottom of it with a nutritionist.

You can’t just go without food? No food at all. One solar energy and harmony of mind and body. This is approximately how the life of a pranic practitioner looks like. But how long and happy this life can be, we asked an expert.

Where did pranoeism come from?

Elena: Have you ever heard that you can live without food? This is the concept behind the mysterious diet (if you can put it that way) – pranoediction. Existing for over 2,000 years, it was first mentioned in the yogis’ main book, the Yoga Sutra. The only thing is that it was one of the 25 supernatural abilities, along with psychokinesis (the ability to affect matter through the power of thought) and clairvoyance. The absence of hunger and thirst was considered quite attainable.

There is a lot of “scientific literature” explaining beyond normal human abilities (e.g., telepathy). But not much research has been done on pranic nutrition. Surprisingly, even among famous scientists, there were those who were convinced that it was possible to live without food and water. According to them, this is the rudiments of the next evolutionary stage of man.

For example, this is what the great inventor Nikola Tesla believed.

The development of life should lead to forms of existence that do not need to eat, and therefore escape the shackles of dependence. Why can’t a living being get all the energy it needs to carry out vital processes from the environment, rather than by consuming food?

Bretarianism or sun-eating – the same terms are used for pranoeism – is not just a principle of refusing food and water, but a whole ideology and way of thinking. It can be interpreted as a variation of fasting (and not only in Christianity, but also in Hinduism, Judaism and Islam). The slight difference between fasting and pranoidism is that the former has an expiration date, while the latter has no expiration date at all. According to the pranoid version, the energy received from above contains all the power necessary for the body’s existence. The “feeding” of energy takes place through breathing.

How pranoidism actually works

Of course, for the most part, these are words, because there are no people who have completely given up food and water. There are only groups that combine pranoidism with other practices. For example, a person may be a vegetarian and occasionally practice pranoidism.

It started with practicing pranic eating in late 2017. Since that time, meat has been gone from my diet. I wasn’t chasing fashion. It’s just that at one point a piece of meat I bought for cooking sat in the fridge for three months and I disposed of it, as I realized I just didn’t want to eat it and wouldn’t. After a year of eating right, I let go of control and gradually shifted to intuitive eating. That’s how I’ve been eating to this day. After three years, meat is back in the diet. And now there are moments when I want not just meat, but steak with blood.

Since about August 2021 I started to eat “by habit”, that is, the body does not ask for food and at the same time remains active energetic, full of strength. This is unusual. Before, when I tried to starve myself, I had no strength and wanted to lie down all day. Now I can eat one apple “for flavor” during the day. In fact, I eat regular food more for company. I don’t feel hungry. But water has become super important – I drink a lot.

What consequences can pranoidism lead to?

Elena: What can the refusal of food and eating from the scientific point of view lead to? First of all, the body will be completely deprived of energy and any strength, as they will simply have nowhere to take them. As a consequence, anorexia and a severe weight problem. Secondly, a very dangerous symptom for the body will come: lack of fluid or dehydration. Third, the condition of internal organs will begin to deteriorate rapidly. Fourth, the body will experience a total deficiency of vitamins. All this can end sadly and even lead to death.

Elena: Let’s consider what will happen to the body if you become a pranoid and refuse to take food and water? First, the body will start urgently searching for a source of glucose so that there is enough of it in the blood. Then it will break down the important polysaccharide glycogen – and turn it into fats and proteins. The liver will begin to process fatty acids into ketones. These are formed in the process of breaking down fat stores and create an alternative energy source. As a result, an imbalance occurs in the body, called ketosis with metabolic restructuring.

That said, dehydration is much more dangerous than malnutrition. It can trigger heart problems and kidney failure.

How to try pranic dieting

Elena: If you still want to take a risk and try pranoyedeniya, then listen to the advice of experienced pranoyeds:

  • Do not give up food and water abruptly. Do it gradually, first exclude certain foods from your diet and switch to vegetarianism;
  • it is important that you are spiritually ready for the transition. If you have difficulties, problems, you are morally exhausted, you should first get rid of all obstacles and psychologically be completely calm and balanced;
  • it is advisable to tell your doctor that you want to try pranic diet. Do not be ashamed to touch medicine in this part, for in some way it can save your life;
  • Evaluate your environment: is it compatible with your mood to give up food and water? It is better to try the practice of pranic diet in a place closest to nature, near water or a river;
  • the most important thing is to listen to your body. Only it will tell you what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. There is no need to overload yourself with fasting, if you feel bad – stop. There are many different interesting and useful diets, tested by doctors and people.
