Another “pancake” for the night? Interview with Anastasia Vladimirova

What to do if crossfit training is no longer three hours a week, but a way of life? Of course, to develop in this direction and reach new heights, because there are plenty of competitions in which athletes can prove themselves.

Master of Sports in swimming, finalist of the Great Summer Cup – 2016, 3rd place in Russia among women in the Open, winner of the Christmas Throwdown, Idol throwdown, participant of The Regionals 2017 – all these titles Anastasia Vladimirova managed to achieve at the age of 22, which means that there is more to come. We are looking forward to following the new developments in her career with great pleasure. The next competition Nastia will take part in is the “Big Cup” – a tournament where participants will compete for the title of the most physically fit athlete. It was on this topic that we had a chance to talk to the athlete and find out how her training is going.

– How did your passion for professional sports begin?
– It so happened that I have been involved in sports all my life, it is customary in our family. My mom, dad and uncle are masters of sport in judo. My younger brother is a kms in swimming. But the main “engine of activity” was my grandfather – from a small age he accustomed to long bike rides, swimming in the river, pull-ups and push-ups. All this was accompanied by trips to mushrooms and berries, as every vacation I spent in the village, until I got to the national team.

– At what point did you start to get interested not only in swimming, but also in other disciplines, such as Crossfit?
– By the time I was introduced to Crossfit, I had finished my professional career as a swimmer because I was going to medical school. At that time I was training in the gym, on the water went out no more than 2-3 times a week (in the competition period was two training on the water six days a week and more training on land). And one day my friend Dmitry Belyakov just suggested I try to do a couple of WODs. He assumed I’d be pretty good at it – he turned out to be right.

– How does it feel to be one of the 60 most physically fit girls in the world at 22?
– It’s very motivating! You realize how much more work there is to do, because I’m not the first yet (smiles).

– How did you find out about the Big Cup? What do these competitions mean to you?
– I found out about the Big Cup to be held in August in January and planned my participation then. It is a kind of test for me, how much I have progressed since the last competition.

– How long is your preparation for the tournament this year?
– There are no seasons in crossfit, so our training is year-round. But the system changed abruptly after starting at regionals. There was an opportunity to be inspired by foreign athletes and realize that they are people just like us. And the only thing to do is to plow. That’s how the work with Alexei Nemtsov, who is my coach at the moment, started.

– What are your expectations from participation in these competitions?
– I try not to expect anything and certainly not to make any predictions. I am superstitious in this respect (smiles). I hope to get a lot of positive emotions, to have a good “workout” and, as they say, without injuries, which is the most important thing!

– Do you have any global sports goals for the future?
– First of all, to realize myself as an athlete, reaching the world level. To get to the Crossfit Games.

Blitz survey for Nastia Vladimirova:

The first thing an athlete should know when preparing for competitions is that your training will not yield results if you don’t pay attention to your recovery (sleep, nutrition, stretching, massage). And you won’t need motivation if you stay disciplined.

My biggest enemy on the road to great fitness is emotion. Sometimes when something doesn’t work out, you just have to wipe away the tears and try again and again. You just have to endure it!

My motivation to start exercising is the opportunity to get better every day, learn new things and always be fit.
