Movies with a true story

About finding yourself, unconditional love and the power of friendship.

Nothing motivates like stories written by fate itself. We have collected three movies, the plot of which did not have to invent.

“Work without Authorship”

Werk ohne Autor, 2018

The movie directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck shows the story of German artist Gerhard Richter, who revived interest in painting in Germany in the post-war years. It is worth noting that a lot of work was done to collect and process information about the personality and fate of the artist, so the authenticity of the facts deserves respect. Gerhard Richter himself added a lot of details and even gave his assistant to further correct the story.

The plot of the movie leads us from the hero’s childhood, which took place under the Nazi regime, to his formation as a famous artist. The viewer is immersed in the story of not only a creative man, but also a faithful husband who is ready to make sacrifices for his family. You can get to know the artist’s life, try to experience it and understand his motives and the power that drives him. This is not only a philosophical drama with deep, metaphysical undertones, but also just a good movie that inspires and inspires. A nominee for the 2019 Oscars, by the way.

“Frida”

Frida, 2002

Screen adaptation of the autobiography of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who devoted her entire life to art. The movie is about a strong woman, played by the unsurpassed Salma Hayek. Fate is cruel to Frida and sends her not only physical, but also mental suffering, giving her a talented artist as a husband, who failed to remain faithful to his muse for 27 years of marriage. All the pain and longing for unfulfilled desires and hopes she expresses in paintings that conquer the world. The film won two Oscars in the categories “Best Film Music” and “Best Makeup”.

“1+1”

Intouchables, 2011

French tragicomedy based on the life story of a successful aristocrat Philippe, who as a result of an accident finds himself in a wheelchair and takes an assistant, who was born in Algeria, but distant relatives from the French capital took him for upbringing. The whole charm of the movie lies in a very warm story about friendship between seemingly completely different people. The picture from France won many awards, including the Golden Globe, and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
