In another study, researchers from Purdue University in the US compared different types of food: liquid food and solid food. This time they measured levels of ghrelin, the hunger hormone. It controls the amount of food, regulates intestinal motility and affects the production of insulin and growth hormone. Study participants either drank a drink or ate a candy bar. It turned out that, unlike the drink mixes, the bars reduced ghrelin levels. Another interesting fact about insulin: those who got the drink had higher levels.
