What drink would you choose if you could drink only that drink for the rest of the day? How about milk or, say, tea? How about soda? That’s roughly the situation the participants of an experiment from the YouTube channel It’s Mamix put themselves in. All week the guys drank three liters of liquid a day. The experiment included water, green tea, milk, soda, freshly squeezed and packet juice.

To complicate the experiment, the participants spent an hour each day on a treadmill. We tell you what conclusions the bloggers came to and how such a regimen affected their health.

Mila: Weight loss with constant soda consumption is definitely a temporary effect. When you return to your normal diet, your body will start to store all those calories that it was deprived of in the previous situation.

About milk

A participant in the experiment, who drank only milk for a week, the level of calcium in the body fell. That’s an unexpected outcome, isn’t it? So why did this happen?

Mila: The legend that milk boosts calcium is last century. The same sesame seed has 10 times more calcium than milk. In addition, the latter is not well digested by everyone. Therefore, milk alone can not raise the level of calcium. Moreover, the method of its production and, accordingly, the quality is very important. In the modern world, cows are rarely kept in conditions suitable for producing good quality milk. So hoping that it will raise calcium is naive.

Describing their feelings from the experiment, both participants noted a lack of hunger. Juice in such quantities replaced food because of its caloric content. So how long can such a diet last?

Mila: It is possible to eat juice alone, but it will be a temporary period, which has many contraindications: problems with the gastrointestinal tract, ulcer, gastritis, etc. Consultation with a nutriciologist is necessary, as you can harm the body with a juice diet. At first there will be a burst of strength and energy, because the stomach does not spend energy on digestion, and the body receives fast carbohydrates in the form of glucose and sucrose. But very soon with such a diet you will begin to feel the lack of proteins and fats necessary for a balanced diet.

The diet is selected individually. Juices should be varied – if you constantly drink the same one, there may be an overabundance of vitamins in the body. And this is even more dangerous than their lack.
