Everyone is accustomed to consider different things as rest. For someone it is scrolling through the tape in social networks, for someone – an evening in the company of an interesting book, and for someone – a noisy party in a bar. Nevertheless, there are those who do not allow themselves to relax, believe that they do not deserve a vacation, and call the need for a break “laziness”.

How do you convince yourself that it is okay to rest? Rest is as much a need as sleeping and eating. If you do not rest enough, sooner or later there will be burnout, increase the chance of getting sick, because the body will fail if it is too often and stressed too much.

In the pursuit of other people’s expectations, we forget about our own rest. The determining role is played by the inner voice, which does not give normal rest.

Substitution of concepts

Everyone should determine for themselves what is rest, because it is a very subjective concept. Someone suits a measured walk in the park, and someone – painting. To relax, you need to understand your needs and true desires: what gives you pleasure, what allows you to reboot, to feel mental release? Often people take for rest what is not rest, for example, watching a movie is not rest, it’s a load of the brain.

The practice “Restoring the inner balance” will help to change the daily routine. During the practice, we write down all the things we do every day and put pluses and minuses depending on whether they fill us with energy or, on the contrary, take it away. When we see the dynamics, we try to find five ways to restructure these activities so that there is a balance in energy replenishment and expenditure. This allows us to adjust our daily routines and direct our resources to what we need. For energy-consuming tasks, we look for alternatives. This approach will help to bring things to a common denominator and find more free time.

Rest is an important part of our life, never neglect it and have quality and timely rest.
