How grandmother managed to lose 25 pounds and get pumped up

Joan McDonald learned how to use a smartphone, lost 25 kilograms and conquered Instagram.

“It’s never too late” is a well-known expression that succinctly describes Joan McDonald’s everyday life. Until three years ago, the 76-year-old grandmother from Canada suffered from overweight and serious health problems that beset her with age. But one day, the retiree’s life changed dramatically thanks to sports. Now she doesn’t need medication to maintain her well-being.

Extra pounds and poor health. How did McDonald live before losing weight?

Joan McDonald suffered from overweight for decades. In her youth, she married unsuccessfully and began to drown out problems in a simple way – to eat them. It is not difficult to guess that this method did not spare the figure of the woman, and her weight began to gradually increase.

At some point, the arrow on the scale Joan approached 90. For a short woman, the figure was very critical. In addition, the extra pounds began to affect her health. The pensioner was worried about high blood pressure, high cholesterol and acid reflux – a condition in which acid from the stomach enters the esophagus. The grandmother coped with all this only with the help of medication.

Also, as the woman aged, her joints began to ache. She even underwent knee replacement surgery. After medical intervention, McDonald could hardly move independently on stairs and was unable to exercise.

Results and motivational tips from Joan McDonald

Thanks to a conscientious attitude to training and a new diet, Joan managed to lose 25 kilograms and build up impressive muscle mass. Working out on machines in the gym, the old lady squeezes out about as much as she weighed before.

In addition, McDonald has learned how to do a great pull-up.

Now the pensioner does not need medication to feel good. And if before Joan herself had to learn everything from scratch, now she shares motivational tips with subscribers in her personal blog in “Instagram”. The woman’s news in the social network is followed by almost 400 thousand people!

McDonald is even called a phytonyashka – and not without reason. And here’s what she advises people who also want to become better.

  • Clearly define the things you want to change in your life and in yourself, and write them out in a list.
  • Make a second list. Include the new daily habits you want to acquire and focus on them.
  • Make a clear workout and nutrition plan for more or less a long time. Or better yet, contact professionals to competently do it for you.
  • Don’t chase after quick results and don’t fall for fad diets.
  • Change your attitude to progress and praise yourself even for small successes. And, finally, learn to truly love yourself.
