Our guest today is Margarita Koroleva, star nutritionist, founder of SOLO (“Royal Diet”). Together with Margarita we decided to find out how useful the morning meal is, whether breakfast can energize us for the whole day and what foods to avoid in the morning.

Breakfast that helps you wake up

Margarita Koroleva: “Breakfast can rightly be called the most important meal of the day. After all, it determines how we feel later in the day. With the right breakfast we will always be energetic, cheerful and charged with new ideas. If we eat sausage sandwiches and coffee or other unhealthy and empty foods in the morning, we will only feel sleepy, irritable and tired.

Foods that should definitely be in your breakfast

“The best breakfast, which will energize us during the day, should include complex carbohydrates in the form of porridge: buckwheat, millet, oatmeal – cooked on water. To porridge you can add berries or fruits, which will make them more delicious, as well as enrich them with vitamins. In addition, several times a week you can make protein breakfast options, such as scrambled eggs or cottage cheese, to which you can also add honey, berries, fruit or vegetables and herbs.”

Eliminating sweets from your morning meal

“In the morning it is necessary to avoid sweets. Such a meal will only give you strength for a short period of time. This is due to the rapid degree of digestion of sugar-containing products, because of which all the energy comes at once and in large quantities, so some of it the body will send to the reserve – in fats. In addition, it is worth avoiding breakfast from an excessive amount of fresh vegetables, meat and mushrooms. Such products are difficult to digest, and the stomach with not yet recovered after sleep peristalsis is not easy.

When to take vitamins? Before, after or during breakfast

“All vitamin complexes in the normal work of the gastrointestinal tract is better to take in the morning on an empty stomach. In the presence of reduced stomach acidity, the reception of vitamins is better to postpone. The body needs additional components during the day, as at this time all organs and systems are maximally active. Therefore, the morning intake of vitamins is quite justified. The exception may be vitamin supplements, specially divided by microelements, which are antagonists and interfere with the assimilation of each other”.

A glass of water in the morning is the best medicine for the stomach

“A morning glass of water allows you to quickly start the lymphatic system, which promotes the timely removal of toxins and toxins from the body, accumulated overnight. In addition, water on an empty stomach activates digestive juices and enzymes, which further leads to better digestion and assimilation of breakfast components. In order to get up early and feel good, you should try to go to bed at the same time. This banal advice is the only one that will help to establish a regime for all active people. Not rested, the body will be in constant stress, on the background of which will worsen well-being and slow down metabolic processes. In addition, it is highly undesirable to eat something just before going to bed. In this case, rest will be superficial, and the morning rise is very difficult.

Tea, coffee or frosh?

“Twenty to thirty minutes after breakfast, it is better to consume fresh fruit and vegetable juice diluted with ordinary clean water. If you choose between tea and coffee, it is better to give preference to the first drink. Citrus fraiche in the morning energizes the body with vitamins and energy, which are so necessary during the day. It is best to dilute such juice with water in a ratio of 1:1. With caution should be used by people with inflammatory diseases of the stomach and problems of carbohydrate metabolism.
