4 feature films about skateboarding for fans of street extreme sports

Skateboarding, like other cultural phenomena, could not escape its acquaintance with the movie industry (it should be noted that the results of this acquaintance were not always successful). Many directors used the roller board in their movies. Often it was more an unusual addition to the picture than a full-fledged hero, but sometimes it turned out very well.

Despite this, the cinematography definitely made its contribution to the popularization of skateboarding around the world.

“On a skateboard from death”

We decided to start our story with the work of French craftsmen. According to the plot, two guys become witnesses to a crime. And the movie would not have happened if they had not been noticed by bandits.

The guys try to skateboard away from the criminals, and not only from them.

Location: Long Island. The young generation is drowning in skateboarding. This time the main character is 17-year-old Camille, who is forbidden to ride a board by her mother because of the threat that she may get injured.

The girl quickly joins the company of the girl group “Skate Kitchen”. Despite everything, Camille doesn’t think about quitting skating.

“Skateboarders.”

Americans were responsible for the production of this movie. The idea of the movie is that four guys wanted to follow a skateboarding star in the hope that he would notice them and help with sponsorship.

They even referred to themselves as “super duper skaters,” thinking it would somehow help them. The movie is packed with humor and the spirit of young skateboarding. It’s good to watch in the evening.

“Kings of Dogtown.”

With 99% certainty we can say that this is the most authentic feature film about skateboarding. If there is a desire, we are naturally willing to argue.

The story of the movie is about how young surfers from the suburbs of Santa Monica fell in love with skateboarding in the 1970s. One day they realized that it was possible to sneak into abandoned and not only areas with empty pools and skate there.

Subsequently, this style of skating became a symbol of an entire generation. The film is imbued with the true spirit of skateboarding and retells the story of Stacy Peralta, Jay Adams and Tony Alva – skateboarding legends.

For fans of the dark knight, this movie might also be of interest as one of the lead roles was played by Heath Ledger, better known as the coolest Joker ever.
