An American woman lost 27 pounds in quarantine. It had nothing to do with radical diets

First she managed to lose weight from 90 to 74 kg in four months (from January to May 2020). And by October Doña improved the result and weighed 62 kg. She maintains her excellent shape even now. Why did the girl gain weight?

Doña never had problems with weight. She allowed herself to eat whatever she wanted, practiced dancing and led an active lifestyle. But in her 20s, the girl began to gradually get better. There were several reasons for this: the metabolism slowed down, the culture of eating changed, in addition, Doña began to take hormonal contraceptives.

The blogger replaced healthy food with endless fast food, donuts and sweet sodas. Especially she could not resist very caloric coffee drinks and unhealthy snacks in the movie theater, often going to the movie solely for the sake of them.

Why did the blogger decide to lose weight?

Doña considers herself the most unmotivated person possible. The girl says that she was already ready to accept herself with a weight of 90 kg. However, at one point she realized that she began to avoid meeting people because she was ashamed of her figure. She began to hide the food she was going to eat from her relatives and acquaintances. In many ways, the emotional pressure from her family, who counted every extra kilogram, also had an impact.

However, the last straw for Doña was a wedding photo shoot: the ordered dress did not fit her size. Then the girl and thought about her health and future and decided to spend time in quarantine to put her figure in order.

How did the girl manage to lose weight?

When Doña began to lose weight, her diet consisted of the same products as before. However, their quantity decreased sharply. Interestingly, she did not fixate on the number of calories eaten. “If you want to lead a healthy lifestyle in which you can eat everything in moderate amounts, it is possible, but very difficult,” says the girl. The main thing is to approach nutrition rationally and realize when you eat out of boredom and when – because you are hungry. Can you live without a packet of chips right now? If yes, put it back where it belongs.

Eat properly – does not mean monotonous
Donya’s favorite dish is still fruit bowls, because they can be assembled from those ingredients that you like exactly. The girl believes that you should eat only the food that brings pleasure, and blindly follow the advice of nutritionists is not worth it.

In addition, according to the blogger, any dish can be made tastier by cooking it in a fryer or on an aerogrill. That’s how the girl accustomed herself to eat more vegetables: even if at first fried in oil, but gradually switched to a more useful way of cooking.

To follow the interval of food intake can only be before going to bed
Doña did not limit herself in the number of portions per day. Basically made sure that the last meal was at least two hours before bedtime.

The key is to realize that you are trying for yourself
“Do it for yourself because no one is going to do the work for you. You have to force yourself to get up in the morning and put in the work,” says the blogger. She warns that the process of losing weight will not be easy, but all this way is worth the end result.

You can exercise at home
During the quarantine, gyms were closed. But this did not prevent the girl from doing all the required training without leaving home. Thus she proved to herself that it is not necessary to go to the gym to succeed in losing weight. Doña did workouts for different muscle groups 2-4 times a week, mostly lasting half an hour. Any workout could be skipped, replaced by a walk with a young man and a dog. The blogger emphasizes that with sports should be the same as with nutrition: choose what you like and suits you.

Weigh yourself every day – to harm yourself
According to the girl’s experience, daily weighing only annoyed her and did not motivate her to lose another kilogram. Instead, she got into the habit of weighing herself on Sundays to track the real progress and not to upset herself at first slow weight loss.

The blogger believes that a truly effective incentive – in time to realize that you want to change for yourself, and not for others. However, the support of loved ones is no less important for the result. Doña’s husband did not reproach her for being overweight, but only cared about her health. Over the past year, he supported the girl in every possible way: together with her, he changed his eating habits, refusing the products that Doña had excluded. This helped her to stay on track and still reach her goal.
