The main adults in a child’s life are parents. Children from a small age copy their habits and behavior. Therefore, it is necessary to instill sports in kids not only by words, but also by personal example. If watching snowflakes caused your child not only the desire to ride down the hill, but also to run on skis, do not miss the opportunity – go skiing with him. It will create shared memories and maybe even grow into something more.
We continue our text series on how much it costs to raise child athletes. Today, the father of a young skier from the Kemerovo region shares his experience with us.
skier’s father
I used to do cross-country skiing myself, my son had to pass the TRP in skiing, so I decided to prepare him. In the evenings at the school stadium I taught him the technique of running, we trampled the track ourselves. I took him to my coach at a sports camp for the summer. After the summer training, having discussed with my instructor the abilities and efforts of my son, I decided to enroll him in the section already at the place of residence. Spending on sports can be different: it all depends on what goals to set for yourself and your child, what you want and to what level you are ready to go. Sports have become more expensive now, but the equipment has also become more accessible. It used to be difficult to buy something, now it’s easier. My son is tall – 182-185 cm – and the equipment should be taken professional, and everything is reflected in the results.
Equipment and equipment
Skis and rollers
Now Ivan is 15 years old, he needs professional skis, not junior ones. He has Fischer speed max 3D, classic and skate. The price varies from 59 to 61 thousand rubles, there is a slightly more expensive model Helium – 70 thousand rubles.
Rollers Sweenor won on the project, they cost in the neighborhood of 10-15 thousand. Two more pairs of classic and skate ski rollers bought new and used from Ski Time and One Way, they cost 5 and 7 thousand respectively.
Bindings
There are not a lot of skis, for lessons at this level you need six pairs at least, and the same number of bindings. We have Fischer Race bindings – I bought two pairs for 3.5 thousand rubles. This season the school has issued five pairs of Fischer too, now the price for them is already 7.5 thousand rubles in the store.
Sticks
Swix triac 3.0 and 4.0 poles cost 25-40 thousand rubles, you need at least two main pairs and one for reserve.
Boots
Ski skate boots Fischer speed max – 55 thousand rubles, we bought on “Avito” new for 35 thousand rubles. The same classic ones – 35 thousand, we also took them on Avito for 28 thousand. But that’s without taking delivery into account.
Clothing
A warm-up suit will cost at least 15 thousand rubles. Racing overalls Silvini won on the project “To ski”, it costs 12-15 thousand. On the same project, by the way, last season five pairs of Fischer skis were won.
Thermal underwear two sets – 10 thousand rubles, Swix hat two pieces – about 5 thousand. Gloves have become very expensive, if good Swix, it will be 3-4 thousand rubles. Lobsters (a kind of ski gloves) Swix in the same price. Backpack for 70 liters bought at a discount for 5 thousand rubles, without it, it costs 8 thousand.
Glasses
Glasses Bliz one bought on “Ozon” for 2.5 thousand, two pairs of son won on the project, now the price tag on them 7 thousand and above.
Bicycle and equipment
Helmet bicycle Scott, the same for ski roller training, bought used for 5 thousand.
Bike decided to take a good, Scott scale 980, as the son still acts in triathlon, the cost was 110 thousand rubles, now somewhere around 180 thousand. Velobots issued by the school, the price tag in the neighborhood of 10 thousand.
Sneakers
Sneakers are used as a consumable material, at trainings and training camps they become unusable. Two pairs of Asics were bought for 3.5 thousand, they quickly deteriorated. We bought Scott supertrac 2.0 for 5-7 thousand and Asics – 5 thousand. Shorts, T-shirts, tights also have to be changed often – everything burns out in the sun and deteriorates from frequent washing.
Other expenses
At the beginning of the winter season we buy lubricants (paraffins, powders, brushes, irons), it costs 5-7 thousand rubles, depending on the number of starts.
Updating the inventory depends on how intensively the child grows, his weight and height. Ivan grew 9 cm during the spring-summer. It turns out that the equipment was enough for 1.5 years, and again to change everything.
In the off-season it is necessary to go to the pool, and accordingly, glasses, cap and a season ticket, but here everything is very individual. Prices can be very different.
Classes and fees
Classes are free of charge, but fees and competitions are another matter. Often the logistics are handled in-house, and in the winter there are often away competitions.
At the beginning of the season there is obligatory rolling in Vershina Tyoya, it costs 20-25 thousand rubles. You also have to pay 200-250 rubles a day to rent the track. If the sports school succeeds, the best athletes can get their money back for the run-in.
In summer there are at least three training camps: Sheregesh, Vershina Tyoya, Seminsky Pass. The training camp for two weeks cost 20 thousand rubles, three weeks on the Seminsky Pass cost 35 thousand rubles. Plus the child has to be brought and then picked up.
Raising champions is a huge, long-term labor, and often very costly. But watching the victories is much more valuable. Conquering the world of sports requires a lot of strength and energy, so the child needs to feel support and support, and in this case it is the parents.
