How did Andrew Jones exercise with his heart in a backpack?

His story will make you forget about excuses, get out of bed and head to the gym.

In our world there are many people whose fate can become the basis for a Hollywood movie about motivation. One of them is the American Andrew Jones. His story amazes and does not leave indifferent. Andrew became an example of a man who went straight to the goal, not stopping in front of numerous obstacles. Even in the face of serious illness and fear of death.

What happened to Andrew Jones?

Before the tragic events, Jones led a healthy and active lifestyle: he was a fitness model, spent every day in the gym and took part in bodybuilding competitions. However, one of the trainings fundamentally turned the usual way of life.

Andrew first realized that his health was not all right in 2012, when he began to choke after running. Two years later, the situation worsened: the athlete began to cough up blood, he constantly had a high temperature. Soon doctors made a disappointing diagnosis – cardiomyopathy. This is a hereditary disease of the heart, in which the process of blood circulation deteriorates. Jones spent four months in the hospital.

The body was so weak that Andrew could not independently get out of bed, walk and dress. It became clear that he needed a transplant of a healthy donor heart. However, the waiting list for the organ was too long: many people wait years for their chance. In such a situation, the only solution was a pacemaker and an artificial heart that would enable him to live on while waiting for help. It was this device that kept the blood circulating in the young man’s body.

Andrew Jones’ life after surgery

In 2016, Andrew finally waited for the long-awaited organ transplant surgery. As soon as he came to his senses, he enthusiastically repeated how good he felt with a new heart.

After a couple of days, Jones’ condition normalized. Now he leads an active lifestyle, travels, is constantly engaged in sports. Once the American took part in a competition among people who survived organ transplantation. However, the struggle with the disease did not end there. After the operation, the patient receives a large number of medical drugs. In his blog, Andrew said that in the first time he took about 50 different pills a day. Even in 2020, four years later, Jones continues to carry a bag of medication with him.

It doesn’t frustrate him at all. Andrew is a motivating example, proving that there are no obstacles in front of a person with a great desire to achieve a goal. Having traveled a difficult path, being on the verge of death, the guy continues to do sports and demonstrate persistence and amazing fortitude.
