Do I need to wear a bra for home workouts?

We choose equipment based on individual characteristics.

Any female equipment for fitness or running includes a sports bra. It supports the chest and does not cause discomfort. At home, girls most often seek to get rid of items of clothing that constrict movements. They usually include a bra. But is it necessary to put it on again, if we are talking about training in four walls? Together with Elena Sitko, a doctor from the European Medical Center, we will find out how to choose a special top for sports and how safe it is to work out without it.

Delicate support: is it necessary to wear a bra at home?

A number of studies by mammologists around the world on the effect of a bra on the mammary glands have shown that it is not recommended to wear it all the time. Including there is no need to wear a bra at home. But if you can not completely abandon the bodice even in the apartment, it is better to replace it with more comfortable models.

This question is most relevant for girls and women with large breasts. We advise them to replace the bra with a top made of natural materials or a sports bra – without boning and cups. The models you choose should sufficiently support, but not squeeze the breast. It is important to remember that regardless of its size, sleeping in a bra is definitely not recommended.

Is it possible to do sports without a special top?

We do not recommend doing sports without a bra. It is necessary even for low-intensity home workouts, as the breasts require protection from friction and support. During physical activity, they experience much more fluctuations than at rest. Therefore, without support, painful sensations can occur, especially if the breasts are large and correspondingly heavy. But even if you have a small size, you cannot avoid rubbing against your shirt without a bra. This can cause damage to the delicate skin of the mammary gland.

When choosing a bra for training, it is important to remember that it should match the size of your properly fitted everyday bra. Give preference to models with adjustable straps or clasp. Try not to buy a thing made of cotton, as this material absorbs moisture and does not dry out.

There are types of bras for sports of different intensities.

  • For low-intensity workouts, a bra with light support is suitable. It can be worn for yoga and simple home exercises.
  • For high-intensity workouts, you need a bra with high support. We are talking about running and strength exercises.

Also, the choice of a sports top directly depends on the size of the girl’s breasts.

  • If you have a small chest or you are engaged in low-intensity training, a compression bra is quite suitable.
  • If you have a large breast volume, an encapsulating bra with wide straps is more comfortable.
  • For better support, choose a sports bra with straps connected at the back. With the presence of a suspender, it will fit the body better.

The choice of sports equipment should be taken seriously and take into account all individual characteristics, so that you do not make a mistake with the purchase. If at the end of training you have chest pain – this is the main sign that the bra is still selected incorrectly.
