Global citizens: how would Russian athletes look like if they competed for other countries?

Russia is a multinational country, and among our athletes there are representatives of different nations. We experimented with the mobile app and imagined how famous Russian athletes would look like if they were born with a different nationality.

Maria Šarapovová

In one version, Maria looks very much like her principal rival Serena Williams. However, no matter what nationality the tennis player would have been born with, she would have remained the same beauty.

Artyom Dzyuba

Recognizing the captain of the Russian national team after the “transformation” is not so easy. However, the charismatic smile, with which he won the hearts of soccer fans, is guessed in all photos.

Yelena Isinbayeva

The famous pole vaulter turned out to be at her best here, too. Elena’s facial features can be guessed even after applying a filter.

Alexei Yagudin

The charisma of the Russian figure skater remains unchanged and is quite guessable, no matter what nationality the application has defined him as.

Alina Zagitová

It is no secret that Alina has many fans in Japan. In addition, the girl often cooperates with Japanese brands and is interested in the culture of the country of the rising sun. Even her pet, a shiba inu named Masaru, is of Japanese blood. No wonder that the transformation of the athlete into an Asian woman turned out to be particularly successful.

Anton Shipulin

In some variations, the famous biathlete has a model appearance. Perhaps, if Anton had been born in another country, the sports world would not have seen such a talented athlete?

Evgenia Medvedeva

Accurate facial features make Evgenia look like a living Barbie – the girl looks equally refined with any nationality.

Alexander Ovečkin

Maybe it’s the strict suit, which you don’t often see on a hockey player, or an unusually strict look, but in some variations Alexander especially looks like a politician or public figure.

Tatiana Navka

Tatiana looks equally good in all the photos, but her Asian version came out especially great. Maybe it’s all about figure skating?

Evgeni Malkin

But it’s not so easy to recognize the Russian hockey player after using filters. Perhaps if Evgeni was born in another country, his choice would have fallen on another sport, such as basketball? With a height of 1.91 meters, he would have had every chance to succeed.

Experiments are experiments, but it’s still good that such talented athletes performed and perform under the Russian flag. Who do the athletes with changed nationalities remind you of and whose “transformation” do you like more?
