In quarantine: which of the athletes was found to have coronavirus

Coronavirus is wreaking more havoc on professional sports every day. Many basketball and soccer clubs are already under quarantine because their players have tested positive for COVID-19. We tell you which athletes have faced the virus directly.

Rudy Gober

The U.S. National Basketball Association announced an emergency suspension of the 2019/2020 season on March 12. The report notes that the reason was the discovery of a coronavirus in one of the players. As it turned out later, the infected turned out to be French center “Utah Jazz” Rudy Gober.

Until the results of the analysis, the athlete emphasized indifference to the epidemic. He touched his teammates’ belongings, touched microphones at press conferences and laughed at the panic around him.

After Gober learned of the positive test results, he published a large post on his Instagram and apologized to fans. Rudy publicly repented and recognized his own actions as frivolous. He also promised that he would do everything in his power to prevent the spread of the virus.

Donovan Mitchell

The coronavirus was later discovered in Gober’s teammate. According to media reports, Utah star Donovan Mitchell was unhappy with the behavior of a colleague who probably infected him.

Yesterday, the basketball player recorded a video message for fans, in which he thanked everyone for their support and encouraged fans, reporting his good health. The days in isolation are not happy for Donovan: he plays video games every day, missing the companionship and the work he loves.

Mikel Arteta

Arsenal’s head coach has also been found to have a coronavirus. The entire core squad and club staff are now in home isolation. And the London club’s training center is closed.

Mikel has made no secret of the fact that the illness has upset him. But he plans to return to work as soon as possible after his recovery.

It’s really disappointing but I passed the test after feeling unwell. I will go back to work as soon as I am allowed to do so.

Esekiel Garay

Valencia defender Esekiel Garay wrote on his Instagram account today that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

I had a bad start to 2020. Tested positive for coronavirus. Feeling very good but I will need to consult with health authorities. Now I am in isolation.

The wife of the footballer Tamara Gorro published a video in the social network, in which she publicly refused to be tested for coronavirus. According to the woman, she could have been infected a long time ago, so let the test be done by people who really need it.

Five more cases at Valencia

Later on the official website of Valencia wrote that a total of five cases of infection among club members were recorded. All those infected are at home, feeling well and following safety measures. The organization does not name the names of the sick, but reports that the team’s players and coaches are sick. Russian Denis Cheryshev has not been diagnosed with the virus.

The coronavirus has already caused damage to world sport. In many countries, championships are canceled and postponed, teams are quarantined, and games are held without spectators. We can only hope that soon everything will get better: athletes will recover and fans will be able to come to the matches of their favorite clubs again.

Be healthy!
