The benefits of exercising in the pool: lose weight, strengthen the heart and correct posture.

Most doctors are absolutely sure that swimming is one of the most useful physical activities for all the systems of our body. A significant advantage of such training is that the loads in the water are less tangible, and the effect of them is 2-4 times higher compared to the exercises performed in the gym. Regular swimming in the pool strengthens blood vessels, accelerates metabolism, normalizes blood pressure.

Correction of posture

In the water, a person weighs almost nothing, that is why all the loads that squeeze the vertebrae and intervertebral discs are completely removed. When staying in the water for about 40-45 minutes, the spine is completely unloaded, the intervertebral discs spread and rest. This creates favorable conditions for the correction of posture disorders, partial restoration of motor functions lost due to injuries, and to prevent their consequences.

Healthy lungs and heart

It is no secret that with age the vital capacity of the lungs decreases. This is due to a decrease in the amplitude of movement of the joints of the ribs and thoracic spine. When swimming, it is necessary to master the technique of proper breathing: deep inhalation and rapid exhalation into the water. Greater depth and frequency of breathing movements will not only improve ventilation of the lungs, but also helps to increase the amplitude of movement of the thoracic spine and rib joints.

Restoration of the nervous system

Hydrostatic pressure acts on the surface of the body immersed in water. Water in turn irritates the receptors and affects the nerve centers, toning the nervous system. That is why it is so useful to swim in the morning, such training gives a sense of vigor and increases efficiency. No opportunity to exercise in the morning? Evening swims at a relaxed pace will have a calming effect on the nervous system, increase emotional stability, provide a sound and restful sleep.

Flexible joints

Due to the lack of pressure in all swimming methods, your joints start to move with high amplitude in a wide range of planes. Not only do you fully utilize your natural abilities, but you can also expand them by increasing the amplitude of movement with pool training. If your joint mobility is noticeably reduced (this can happen with age or due to injury), you can regain ease and range of motion in the water much faster than on land.

Weight loss

Due to the increased heat transfer in water, the body’s metabolism is activated, so swimming uses more energy (depending on water temperature and swimming speed) than other sports. The water temperature is always lower than the human body temperature, so when a person is in the water, his body radiates much more heat than in the air. This feature of swimming is actively used in the fight against excess weight.

Lifehack: Butterfly is the most difficult and intense swimming movement of all and certainly the most difficult to master. Butterfly does a better job of burning fat than any other style. It’s perfect to incorporate into your interval training and helps improve your metabolism.
