What is the right way: with what and why you can not eat fruit?

When should I eat fruit? What drinks and foods should you not eat fruit with?

We dispel myths about fruit together with a nutrition expert.

Many people have heard about the benefits of fruits: how they improve the condition of the skin, hair and nails. Hundreds of diets advise thinners to replace all sweet things in the diet with fruits and berries. But is this advice really true? Or should we be more careful when choosing foods?

Fruit as a separate component of nutrition is one of the pillars of good nutrition, but you just need to understand how to use it.

What should not be combined with fruit?

To begin with, let’s understand with which products which fruits should not be combined exactly. Fruits should be divided into several groups.

Sweet fruits: bananas, figs, persimmons, dates, sweet grapes and dried fruits.

Pass the fastest stage of digestion relative to other fruits. Do not combine with meat, fish products. It is desirable to consume as a separate meal. The exception is dairy and fermented milk products (if there is really a need for it). For example: sour cream, cheese, cream, milk.

It is also important to remember that the combination of sweet fruits, dairy and sour milk products contributes to a rapid and strong response of the pancreas – insulin is released, which can adversely affect health.

Semi-sour fruits: apple, sweet pears, plum, grapes (some varieties), peach, apricot, nectarine, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, blueberry, melon and watermelon.

Poorly combined with starchy foods, mushrooms, fish and seafood, eggs and legumes.
It is important to remember that watermelon and melon should be consumed strictly as a separate meal. Moreover, watermelon and melon are also not combined with each other.

Sour fruits: citrusfruits, pomegranates, kiwi, gooseberries, cranberries, cherries, green sour apples, plums, sour pears, sour grapes, apricots.

Incompatible with high-protein animal products and starchy foods. For example, do not consume rice, baked goods, potatoes, starchy fruit banana together with citrus or other acidic fruits. Starch is a complex polysaccharide that takes a long time to digest, and sour fruits contain acids, which the gastrointestinal tract secretes completely different enzymes to digest.

The stronger the heat treatment of fruit, the less of its beneficial substances are preserved. However, on an industrial scale, fruit plantations are treated with all sorts of chemicals and substances to optimize ripening, storage and transportation. Therefore, you should wash fruits more thoroughly before eating them. It is not unreasonable to immerse them for ten seconds in hot water to finally get rid of unwanted substances on the surface.

When is it better to eat fruit?

Fruit contains a large amount of carbohydrates, in response to which the pancreas produces insulin. The most “working” insulin is released between 10:00 and 17:00-17:30. By eating fruit within this time range, there is no doubt that the body will correctly metabolize the glucose from the fruit eaten.
