Winter vacation in almost any country in the world will be different from summer vacation. Turkey has its own peculiarities in this respect – it occupies a vast territory, and the climate in its different parts is different. Somewhere will be warm even in winter, and somewhere – snowy and frosty, as in most regions of Russia. Therefore, and entertainment depends on what area of Turkey you are going to go to.

Pros and cons of winter vacation in Turkey

In Turkey usually come to relax on the beaches and swim in the sea. But in winter there will be no such opportunity, because even in areas with plus temperatures, the water will be uncomfortable for bathing.

In the cooler areas, snow falls and the temperature is quite low. But to breathe this air I recommend at any time of the year. It is better to think about entertainment in advance and choose those that do not involve long walks or outdoor activities. You can devote time to visiting museums, interesting stores, cafes and restaurants.

Of the pros of winter vacation in Turkey can be noted a small number of tourists and low prices for tickets and hotel accommodation, as well as for entertainment within the country. And although snow falls in many cities, there are no severe frosts in Turkey, and the climate is very mild.

What to do in Turkey in winter?

Relax

If you want to spend a winter vacation on the sea coast, Antalya, Alanya, Side, Belek, Adana, Kestel, Mahmutlar and Kash are perfect for this.

In the southern parts of Turkey, on the Mediterranean coast, the temperature rarely drops below zero even in winter. Therefore, you can walk along the beach, enjoy the beautiful seascapes or even have a picnic on the coast.

But it is important to remember that the water will be cool and not everyone will risk swimming. Although in winter there are especially warm days in these areas, when you can sunbathe and swim, but it will not be the same vacation as in the summer.

The Black Sea coast cities such as Kastamonu, Sinop, Rize, Trabzon, Artvin and others have very snowy winters. A great solution will be to rent a cabin in the mountains and spend your vacation among the fabulous winter scenery.

Starajte sa o svoje zdravie

In the winter time in Turkey you can visit thermal springs, which contribute to the recovery of the body. The most popular thermal springs are Pamukkale and Yalova.

Thermal springs contribute to the treatment of many diseases, it is a great option for winter vacation for the older generation. I would especially like to mention the Cleopatra’s pool in Pamukkale, the more so the entrance to it is free if you buy a ticket to visit the whole territory of the thermae.

Take a trip to Istanbul

Istanbul attracts tourists all year round. Even in winter people from all over the world come here to visit the famous sights: Hagia Sophia Cathedral Museum, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, Yedikule Fortress, Blue Mosque, Maiden Tower and many others.

On particularly cold days, you can spend time in cafes. The most popular of them is Myterrace Cafe & Restaurant.

Shopping can be emphasized as a separate direction of tourism. In Istanbul, there are many places where you can buy beautiful things, souvenirs and gifts for loved ones.

Skiing or snowboarding

Fans of active winter vacation can ride on the slopes in the mountains of Turkey. The most popular ski resorts are Uludag, Sarıkamış, Palandoken and Erciyes.

If you still choose active recreation on the slopes, we recommend to get acquainted with the rules of behavior in the mountains. You can find them at the link.
