Xenon: first you breathe the gas and then everything is a blur

The xenon therapy procedure entered medical practice about 20 years ago, and many patients who have tried it have already appreciated the result. With its unique anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, and sedative properties, xenon is used in many medical fields, including rehabilitation treatment. It is scientifically proven that the course of such a procedure is superior in effectiveness to many other physiotherapeutic methods of influence on the central nervous system. OSTEOPOLYCLINIC specialist in xenon therapy, LFC instructor, psychologist Maxim Buvin told us about the properties and influence of xenon on our organism.

Čo je to?

Xenon therapy is an inhalation procedure. The process is painless and lasts 3.5 minutes. You breathe through a mask and the incoming gas is tasteless and odorless. During the procedure you experience various positive emotions, for example, you will feel something similar to a slight intoxication, as if you had a glass of fine wine. You may also feel a slight dizziness and tingling in your fingertips and toes, a wave of warmth throughout your body – this is a normal reaction.

What does xenon therapy work with?

Xenon is part of the air. It comes to us from the bowels of the earth – it comes out of the soil on the planet’s surface and hovers in the atmosphere. Thanks to special technologies that take it out of the air or when xenon gets into mixtures of gases, it is separated and purified and then used in medicine. There are no restrictions on its use except for legal ones – it cannot be used during pregnancy and for children under 18 years of age. For minors, the procedure is allowed only for surgical interventions.

In medicine, the element came due to its three advantages, thanks to which it is achieved:

1. anesthesia.
2. Relaxation.
3. Anti-anxiety effect.

At first xenon was used in surgery as an anesthesia, and in the course of work, it acquired more and more new properties. Xenon is used as a complex therapy, and to relieve withdrawal in drug addicts and alcoholics. There is also monotherapy, with the help of which you can treat panic attacks, depression, chronic pain syndromes.

Who needs these treatments?

– Office workers who are always under stress and do not move much;
– athletes in the inter-training period after heavy physical exertion;
– people after a long flight;
– people with migraines;
– people who have had surgery or are preparing for surgery.

Xenon primarily works on tension, as it is a strong relaxant, but it also affects certain hormones. For example, on cortisol and adrenaline. The procedure does not reduce them to critical levels. The doctor strictly monitors that the indicators are at the level of a healthy person.

However, the therapy can not be used a short time before surgery, because during anesthesia, a sharp spike in adrenaline is possible. As a result, you will need a little more anesthesia to feel the effects of anesthesia and numbness. An experienced doctor will advise you to attend a xenon therapy session after or the day before surgery.

Panic attacks are always accompanied by a very violent autonomic reaction – these are sweaty palms, increased heart rate, a feeling of shortness of breath, panic. All these changes xenon allows to minimize. The next time a person has such an attack, only the psychological factor remains, and it is much easier to cope with it. Therefore, xenon works very well in complex therapy with psychiatrists.

How does xenon work in psychosomatic pain?

If we are talking about hypochondria or, so to speak, the third-year medical school syndrome, when a person realizes that he or she is sick of everything and, no matter what disease you open, he or she finds all these symptoms, xenon therapy will also be effective. This again lies on the same plane as psychiatry, in the understanding that there are processes going on in the brain that should not be going on. Xenon removes the stress factor, adrenaline and cortisol levels come back to normal, and the nervous system becomes more balanced.

Back to the office workers. When they come for a follow-up appointment, they say the same thing – the factors that irritated them before the procedure stopped hurting them afterward. The body begins to defend itself thanks to the reboot. Sleep and metabolic processes are normalized.

How often do I need to undergo the procedure?

Xenon has no side effects and toxic effects on the body, so the procedure can be carried out daily, there is no dependence. But the average person who lives in a metropolitan area, I advise to go to the procedure once weekly for 5 weeks, and then look at your condition. Everything is very individual both in frequency and concentration.
