How many times have you watched a movie, TV series or read a book and come across a description of a meal? It could be completely ordinary, but you wanted to cook it exactly according to that recipe. Chef Alexandra Kozlova did not deny herself this pleasure and brought to life some iconic dishes. Here are a few interesting recipes.
Cherry pie from the TV series “Twin Peaks”
Potrebovali boste:
- wheat flour – 400 g;
- butter – 270 g;
- salt – 6 g;
- vanilla – 20 g;
- powdered sugar – 150 g;
- almond flour – 50 g;
- egg – 2 pcs;
- water – 60 ml;
- seedless cherries – 1 kg;
- sugar – 200 g;
- cornstarch – 30 g;
- parchment.
Mix in a separate container the plain and almond flour, powdered sugar, vanilla and salt. Grate the frozen butter and mix with the dry ingredients until a sandy dough. Add egg and water, mold two balls, wrap them in foil and put them in the freezer for an hour.
In the meantime, bring cherries and sugar to a boil, add vanilla. Separately dilute cornstarch and gradually add to the cherries.
Preheat the oven to 230 degrees, take the dough out of the freezer. Squeeze one ball between two sheets of parchment and, pressing, make it as flat as possible. Repeat the procedure with the second ball. Put the first round of dough into the mold, make high sides, pour in the cherry filling and put in the refrigerator. After a couple of minutes, take it out and cover with the second sheet of dough, gluing the bottom and top layers together.
Bake in two stages: first at high temperature for 30 minutes and then at 180 degrees for 40 minutes. It’s a darn good pie.
Bread from the book “Under the Apron” by Ivan Shishkin
Potrebovali boste:
- wheat flour – 600 g;
- cold water – 450 ml;
- salt – 8 g;
- yeast – 1 g.
Mix salt, flour and yeast in a separate bowl, pour water and mix thoroughly. Then cover and leave for 12 hours (but do not put to the battery).
After that, place the dough on the table, sprinkled with flour, and fold in the middle several times, kneading well. If the dough sticks to your hands, you can moisten your palms with water. Then sprinkle with flour and put on a towel, leave for an hour.
Half an hour before baking, preheat the oven to 200 degrees with a metal dish in which we will bake the bread. Transfer the dough into it, cover with a lid and bake for half an hour. Then bake for another 20 minutes, but without the lid.
Turkey sandwich from “Friends.”
Potrebovali boste:
turkey – 500 g;
butter – 1 tbsp;
salt and spices – to taste;
bread – at least three slices;
salad – to taste;
cheese – to taste;
bacon – to taste;
for cranberry sauce:
cranberries – 1 cup;
sugar – 1/2 cup;
cinnamon – 1 tsp;
cornstarch – 1 tsp;
water – 1/2 cup;
zest of one orange;
orange juice from half an orange;
For gravy:
onion – 1/2 onion bulb;
garlic – 1 clove;
flour – 1 tbsp;
sol in poper po okusu.
Coat the turkey with spices and fry in butter until golden crust. Then send it to the oven at 180 degrees for 40 minutes. Fry onions and garlic, add flour, pour in water – you get gravy.
Make sauce: boil cranberries, sugar, cinnamon, orange zest and juice. Then add starch diluted with water. Prepare bread: fry two slices in butter on both sides, dip one in gravy.
Assemble sandwich: smear toast with mayonnaise, put salad, turkey, soaked bread, cheese, turkey again, pour cranberry sauce and put fried bread.
