Official release: which brands sew clothes for the best soccer teams?

It is very common to see high fashion brands creating collaborative collections with sports brands or a particular athlete. But lately, luxury has started to collaborate with entire organizations and soccer clubs to prove that sports stars wear more than just casual and sportswear.

Such collections help soccer clubs prove their relevance in the sphere and fashion houses attract new customers from the new generation. We tell you about the best partner collections with world clubs.

Dior and Paris Saint-Germain

Fashion house Dior signed a contract with Paris Saint-Germain soccer club. It means that now the players will wear clothes specially designed for them by Kim Jones, the creative director of the men’s line of the house. The collaboration will last for two seasons, and in this one the players will wear a lightweight Harrington jacket, a knitted sweater, a polo shirt with a Paris Saint-Germain patch and black leather derbies.

For the formal look, Kim Jones has designed a cashmere coat, a classic suit and a white shirt, which he suggests pairing with classic Captoe shoes. The players will also be accessorized with the iconic saddle bag, jacquard tie, belt and cashmere scarf.

Hugo Boss and Real Madrid

Hugo Boss has dressed and is dressing many soccer clubs, but the most famous in their track record is considered Real Madrid. Since 2015, the brand has been the official fashion partner of the Spanish team and sews the players suits for all of their out-of-game events. The latest suit was made of fabric with a barely visible plaid print. The jacket, pants and vest were complemented by a blue jacquard tie and a classic white shirt.

Moreover, players of such popular soccer clubs as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have been cooperating with the brand for many years and recently took part in the advertising campaign of Boss Bottled fragrance.

Loro Piana and Juventus

Italian brand Loro Piana has created several images especially for the soccer club Juventus. The players are offered two looks: for the warm season the brand created a set of long-sleeved polo shirt and strict pants. For the colder season, a layered look was created from a cotton shirt, a wool cardigan and a sports jacket made from a blend of cashmere and silk. In addition to the club’s players, the brand also dressed coach Massimiliano Allegri: for him Loro Piana made a suit in fine Tasmanian merino sheep’s wool.

This collaboration with the soccer club will help the brand to become more recognizable among the younger generation, as Loro Piana currently makes strict clothing for an older audience.

Thom Browne and Barcelona

American designer Thom Browne worked with the team to create the out-of-game uniforms for FC Barcelona for two years, from 2018 to 2020. The Spanish club’s players wore the gray cashmere jersey that the designer uses to make his famous shorts suits; white oxford shirts, khaki chinos, jackets, patent brogues and aviator sunglasses from Thom Browne.

“Dressing a team that shares my values is an honor. The uniforms allow players to express their individuality while continuing to foster team spirit and camaraderie. The best athletes are exceptional role models, we hope their confidence and tenacity will inspire younger generations,” is how the designer himself commented on the collaboration.

424 and Arsenal

Arsenal Football Club started to collaborate with Los Angeles-based streetwear brand 424, much to the surprise of fans. The brand has designed suits not only for the club’s players, coaches and senior staff, but for the first time ever for the Arsenal women’s team.

The brand’s co-founder and designer, Guillermo Andrade, is close friends with Hector Bellerin, Arsenal’s flank defender, and this is the reason the club started working with the brand.
