Strike May: How not to overeat during the holidays

On May holidays, many people go to the countryside, or even go to the dacha. This year, the holiday weekend stretched for more than a week, as well as gastronomic temptations: kebabs, tasty but caloric salads, for some – alcohol. Such long walks can have a negative impact on the figure. How not to let yourself overeat and gain extra pounds?

Watch the feeling of hunger

Of course, when the table is bursting with goodies, you want to eat everything at once and more. But you should not hurry with it. And it’s not just about calories, after such a “belly feast” you are very likely to feel bad: the stomach will feel heavy, and it will take a lot of time and effort to digest a large amount of fatty food.

Therefore, do not sweep away all the dishes on your way. If you want to try everything, reduce the size of portions. And when you feel satiated, stop – no one is going to take away your bite, and you can finish it later if you want.

Choose healthy alternatives

On any even the most unhealthy holiday table, you can find more or less healthy dishes, such as meat and vegetables. And if you organize the feast yourself, try to replace especially caloric ingredients with healthy alternatives. For example, dress your salad with non-fat yogurt instead of mayonnaise; instead of sugary sodas, take juice without added sugar.

Diversify the holidays with activities

Not all sitting around the table? Take a break from the holiday meal that flows seamlessly into dinner and get outside. Throw a ball, play badminton, and if the number of guests allows, you can divide into teams and organize a soccer mini-tournament. In the end, take a walk in the nearest park or in the countryside.

And if you’re staying in the city for May Day, you can rent a scooter or a bicycle – whatever you prefer.

Reduce the amount of alcohol

Alcohol itself is quite caloric, but does not significantly affect weight. But while the body will process it, eaten risks going straight to the “fat depot”. In addition, strong alcohol increases appetite, and you can inadvertently eat much more than you would like.

Do not “fatten” appetite

If you don’t want to pounce on food and sweep everything off the table, you shouldn’t go on a hunger strike the day before. It will not bring any real benefit, but harm – easily. If you are very hungry, you will not be able to control how much you eat, and inevitably overdo at the holiday table. It is better to try to stick to the usual diet without overindulging.

In general, even if on holidays you allow yourself extra, nothing critical will not happen. After one dense lunch or dinner, you will not get better at once twice. The main thing is not to make such wide feasts a habit and after the weekend to return to the usual healthy diet.
