Soccer clubs give away style: Real Madrid’s new uniforms and Milan’s vintage collection

A club’s sports uniform has long ceased to be just an element of the process – it’s now a canvas on which to communicate values and capture important events. Collected five stylish sets of uniforms that sports clubs have released in 2022.

Real Madrid and Y-3

To mark the anniversary (Real Madrid turned 120 on March 6), the club’s management and renowned designer Ëji Yamamoto teamed up once again to create a set of uniforms.

Ëji is a very popular and successful designer and has been working with adidas for many years. A few years ago, this collaboration gave us the Real Madrid uniform, which was adorned with a white dragon on the chest. And now the duo reunited again to create the kit in which the players went to the “el clasico”.

This time the Japanese designer opted for a more minimalist version: black and white uniforms and the recognizable Y-3 logo on the opposite side of the emblem.

The 1995/1996 season was the first season in which Serie A players wore personalized jerseys with their names and numbers on the back. This was another milestone in modern soccer jersey culture.

“Arsenal and Stella McCartney

Adidas and Stella McCartney teamed up to create unique uniforms for the Arsenal women’s team.

But there is one nuance: all models are gender-neutral, so the men’s half of the club can also play in them – they will wear them for the away match against Crystal Palace.

The collection turned out to be very colorful, with a predominant leopard pattern. It includes not only jerseys and shorts, but also hoodies, pants, jackets and bags. The uniforms went on sale on March 28.

“Napoli and EA7

Already having 12 variants of game jerseys in its arsenal, the Italian club released another one dedicated to Diego Maradona.

The Maradona Rosa shirt follows the same pattern as the three previous Maradona tribute shirts, but unlike the previous blue and white models, it is presented in red. This is EA7’s debut season in partnership with Napoli, so judging by the number of drops, the brand is making the most of its opportunities.

“Bari and the LC23

The sponsor of the Italian Serie C club, Kappa has teamed up with renowned Italian brand LC23 to collaborate on soccer uniforms for Bari.

The brands were inspired by the Adriatic Sea, on whose shores the club has long trained and played. The jerseys are in turquoise, pink, red-white and white colors. The jerseys are decorated with nautical patterns, and on each of them there are octopus tentacles.

The fact is that many locals of this small town are engaged in fishing and, in particular, octopus fishing.
