Sports can replace eye drops. Scientists from Canada have found out

How is sport good for your eyes? What do scientists think?

Let’s find out together with an ophthalmologist.

Dry eye syndrome is a fairly common phenomenon that occurs in every second person. Eye drops usually come to the rescue, but they don’t always help. Canadian scientists offer another way to cope with this problem. Namely – aerobic exercises, which not only get rid of discomfort, but also preserve vision.

Trained people have better eye health than the rest of us.

This is exactly what helps to fight dry eyes and keep them healthy. At the same time, the subjects who practiced more than once a week had higher indicators. The authors of the study emphasized that this way of protecting the eyes is a good alternative to moisturizing drops and other treatments. This is important because nowadays almost everyone uses smartphones and other gadgets that lead to dry eye syndrome.

It’s not just a temporary discomfort. The disease can lead to damage to the ocular surface. The good news is that athletes are less likely to experience these effects.

These include, for example, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, and impaired lipid profile (fat content in the blood). These conditions increase the risk of age-related vision changes, notes the ophthalmologist. So sport is really good for health, but the load should be dosed.
